The Luni Muni

The New York Muni-Meter system is a disaster! There are many issues that have presented themselves with this new idea and they need to be solved.

For example, sometimes you have to walk more than half a block to purchase a ticket to put in the dash board. This is quite time consuming.

The council voted 47-2 to allow for a 5-minute grace period at Muni-Meters before officers can issue a ticket. “I actually had officers standing next to my car waiting for the time to expire,” one driver remarked.

In addition, you can’t ask someone to feed your meter, you have to give them your car keys and then make sure to get them back.  Another problem is that the ticket needs to be placed in the dashboard on the driver’s side, which is sometimes on the street side.  People need to put their ticket in the car while traffic is passing right alongside them, which can be quite dangerous!  If one has a baby carriage, they are forced to leave their baby unattended on the sidewalk while they place their ticket in the car.

What do you do when it’s raining outside and your umbrella is protecting you, your baby and other children?

Sometimes, Muni-Meters are broken. After searching for a spot for a long time, you are now stuck because you can’t get a ticket from any machine.  I can personally relate to this scenario:

It was a rainy day when I finally found a spot in front of a store. Soaked to the skin I had to run to the Muni-Meter located on the other end of the block. I was standing while the water rained down on me, pressing the buttons on the machine to make it work.  But it didn’t! Even though it’s easier for the Muni-Meter money collectors to amass from one machine per block it is bothersome to the general population.

As you can see, the Muni-Meters need to be dealt with. Are you going to go into action and do something or just stand there and let the government get away with it!

With the recent kidnapping by the Hamas and the barbaric murder of three children – Gilad Shaar, Eyal Yifrach and Naftali Frankel, we believe that the best answer to honor the memory of those murdered is to continue building those very communities – large and small – that our enemies are trying to destroy.
