The Wall

Teens-082214

My land is under attack
My country’s fighting back,
I run with all my strength
To the WALL.

There are screams and cries of fear
As missiles fly through the air,
As they fall upon us we go
To the WALL.

We are shattered more each day
As the lives we know are taken away,
The only thing that still remains
Is the WALL.

As thousands of salty tears flow,
As my nation prays as one I know
We must pray to G-d and find solace
At the WALL.

Centuries of crumbling stone
Tell a story all their own,
Fragments of lives are hidden
In the WALL.

Scraps of parchment are wedged in the cracks
Heartfelt prayers for things which we lack;
Yisrael we must unite
At the WALL.

When the world is being yanked apart,
When you’re in pain know inside your heart
You can always pray to G-d
At the WALL.

This Holy Day comes once a year
With prayers and begging and pleading and tears,

As they fall upon us we go
To the WALL.

Help me and the rest of them
Know what I really mean.

You’ve been taken from me my child
I’ve been alone for many years,
That you will never return
Is my deepest hidden fear.

Are we kings or are we slaves?

To find out the king tried
But no answer would ever come from
His wife.
