Title: The Seven Healing Fruits of Israel

Author: Shoshana Harrari

Nutritional and Health Counselor Shoshanna Harrari is a beloved fixture on Israel’s organic foods scene. The 2007 publication of her book is being received with many open arms and wide eyes in the Holy Land and abroad.

A beautifully packaged font of food information in 200 pages, packed with insights about the healing properties of G‑d’s gift to mankind, the book is soothing to the eyes and good for your whole body.

The author points out a very relevant Torah insight on page five. “The passage from Deuteronomy 8:7-8 was given over to us to reveal certain important aspects of this new yet ancient land. For some reason, G‑d felt it very important for us to take special notice of seven species of fruit, grasses and grains, as well as bountiful springs and streams of water. That somehow they were special, set apart and had properties of healing within them.”

This is her launching point for presenting other Torah passages that teach attentive readers about what and how to eat: seed-bearing produce in moderation and to drink sufficient amounts of clean water (a “rain from Heaven”). Augmented with documented scientific information, Harrari makes a compelling case for eating Hashem’s “recommended” diet.

The Seven Healing Fruits of Israel contains chapters about each of the special species, a chapter about water and recipes for preparing meals that please the eye as much as the mouth.

The Water chapter includes a few of Japanese researcher Masuru Emoto’s unusually prepared photographs of water. The pictures display the results of reciting blessings over water (startlingly beautiful) and the polar opposite: water exposed to words of hate (you’ll cringe when you see these pictures).

The parchment-colored pages and capitalized font throughout the book make an impression on the mind. That impression is one of gentle revelation and an inviting opportunity to enhance your dining experience. Even the words of Ezekiel 40:1, 47:2-12 will come across gently, sweetly and with enticing flavor.

Vivid photographs of Israeli plant life by Shoshanna’s husband, Micah (a maker of biblical harps), compliment the text. There are more pleasant surprises between the covers of this charmingly illustrated book.

Despairing over your inexplicable weight? Want to improve your skin tone or lower your blood pressure without medication? Need to improve your resistance to illness and your ability to heal? Treat yourself to The Seven Healing Fruits of Israel.
