Khamenei Tweets Silhouette of Obama Committing Suicide

Sunday, July 26th, 2015

Iran continues to make President Barack Obama look like a used mop while knowingly or unknowingly providing ammunition for wavering Congressional Democrats to decide to vote against “ObamaDeal” and retain American sanctions.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s latest missive to mock President Obama was tweeted on Saturday in the form of a silhouette that shows the President pointing a gun at his own head.

The message above the picture repeats the same disparaging tweet that the Ayatollah sent out a week before and only three days after the United States and the other P5+1 powers signed a nuclear agreement with Iran:

If any war happens, the one who will emerge loser will be the aggressive and criminal U.S.

The U.N. Security Council jumped for joy and almost immediately approved the agreement, leaving the United States as the only possible holdout and whose rejection would only affect American sanctions, while foreign corporations already are lining up in Tehran to stuff Iran’s and their own pockets.

President Obama has not responded to the tweets, the latest have been re-tweeted more than 1,200 times, which might be the best thing for Twitter’s stock since it went public.

However, even the Democrats on Main Street, America do not take kindly to a foreigner mocking their president. Patriotic cloth is part of the American wardrobe that is also worn by Democrats who support senators like Church Schumer and Ben Cardin, both of them key votes in the battle to accept ObamaDeal or reject it by a veto-proof majority.

As much as Schumer, Cardin and other undecided Democrats care about supporting President Obama, they have to keep in mind their ultimate bosses – the voters – if they want their votes come election time.

Khamenei’s making Obama look like a wimp could be just the ammunition the Republicans need to ditch the American side of the deal.

Iran Celebrates ObamaDeal with Chants of ‘Death to America

Saturday, July 18th, 2015

Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei led tens led tens of thousands of Iranians to scream “death to America” and “death to Israel chants Saturday, five days after  the United States and five other world powers reached agreement on a nuclear deal.

Khamenei did not specifically criticize or praise the agreement, leading American pundits to conclude that he was just letting off steam to please the hard-liners., and so what if President Barack Obama hailed an agreement with a country that loves to hate?

Khamenei spoke on national television on Saturday, during the Eid a-Ftir celebrations concluding the daily fasts in the Muslim month of Ramadan, and poured salt on the fresh wound President Barack Obama has suffered in his weak defense of the deal.

Khamenei told throngs in Tehran:

Our policy regarding the arrogant U.S. government will not change. We don’t have any negotiations or deal with the U.S. on different issues in the world or the region.

Whether [the deal is] ratified or not, we will not give up on our friends in the region.

And who are his friends? For starters there is Syrian president Bashar al-Assad, who owes his life to Iran for remaining alive, at least for the time being. And then there is Hezbollah, for which ObamaDeal is a multi-billion bonanza for buying even more missiles to aim at Israel and to fund terrorist attacks against Jews around the world.

Khamenei’s appearance dispels reports that he is about to die from cancer. His performance Saturday was at least par for the course in his making President Obama look like a dishrag. Congress may confirm the agreement, but Khamenei is going to embarrass the president as much as possible.

The Supreme Leader of Iran bragged that the United States has no other choice “but to tolerate the spinning of a few thousand centrifuges” in Iran.

President Obama last week admitted that the United States made foreign policy mistakes by backing a coup in 1953 and backing Iraq’s Saddam Hussein in the eight-year with Iran in the 1980s.

The admission gave Khamenei an opening that he stretched, saying:

He [Obama] mentioned two or three points but did not confess to tens of others. I am telling you, you are making a mistake now, in different parts of this region, but especially about the Iranian nation. Wake up, Stop making mistakes. Understand the reality.

Isn’t it interesting that Obama is getting the same message from Israel, Saudi Arabia and more than half of Congress?

Below is a video from CNN of Khamenei’s speech and the hate chants.

Black Monday: Iran and P5+1 to Sign Deal

Sunday, July 12th, 2015

It’s all over except for the shouting and the crying, according to an Associated Press report that a deal with Iran has been completed and will be signed on Monday.

However, a senior State Dept. official maintained that “major issues remain to be resolved in these talks.”

AP’s Matt Lee, a veteran and highly reliable journalist, reported Sunday:

Negotiators at the Iran nuclear talks are expected to reach a provisional agreement Sunday on a historic deal that would curb the country’s atomic program in return for sanctions relief, diplomats told The Associated Press.

The two diplomats cautioned that final details of the pact were still being worked out Sunday afternoon and a formal agreement still awaits a review from the capitals of the seven nations at the talks. They said plans now are for the deal to be announced on Monday.

The regime’s PRESS TV headlined, “Iranian MPs hail nuclear negotiators’ resistance against US’ excessive demands.”

The legislators issued a statement that included a rejection of “any inspection of the Iranian military sites, interviews with Iranian scientists and imposing restrictions on the country’s nuclear research and development.”

The key issue of inspections will be examined with a microscope, especially by Congress, which will have 60 days to review a final agreement.

A deal will be bitter if not deadly pill for Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to swallow, and Israel can be expected to hound Congressmen to try to torpedo it, which will not be simple.

President Barack Obama undoubtedly will dismiss as rhetoric for local consumption the belligerent sneers from Ayatollah Ali Khamenei that the United States is “the absolute embodiment of arrogance” and an enemy of Iran.

Politico reported last week it is “very unlikely” that Congress can kill the deal unless there is a full-scale rebellion by Democrats. Americans, already gearing up for next year’s Congressional and presidential elections, view the ISIS , the economy and immigration policies as more serious issues than a nuclear-armed Iran, which President Obama will claim won’t happen under the agreement.

Congress would have to come up with a solid majority, perhaps even a veto-proof two-thirds majority, in order to nullify the agreement. Ironically, it is the Arab countries that might be able to twist Congressmen’s arms against the deal.

South Carolina Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham told Politico:

If the Arabs come out and say this is a bad deal, if AIPAC says this is a bad deal, if public opinion says we don’t trust this deal, then our Democratic colleagues will hopefully come forward to say, ‘We can do better.’

Iranian Expert: Khamenei Says No to Signed Deal as Iran Already Getting All it Wants

Tuesday, July 7th, 2015

According to an expert on Iran, there will be no deal between the U.S. and its western partners and Iran.

But that is not because the bad deal Iran is demanding will be rejected by the U.S. or its partners. It’s because the Ayatollah Khamenie has instructed his minions in Vienna not to sign anything.

Credit for this novel theory goes to Michael Ledeen, an international affairs analyst who has been covering Iran for decades.

Ledeen explained that the desperate attempts by President Obama, Secretary of State John Kerry and their team to cave to any demands uttered (or even considered) by the Iranians has led Iran’s Supreme Leader to conclude that “there is no reason for him to approve a hated deal with the devil. It’s much better to keep talking until all the sanctions are gone, and Iran’s ‘right’ to pursue its nuclear projects is fully recognized.”

What Ledeen predicts will happen is that what he has dubbed the “no deal deal” will represent a commitment to come to an actual agreement by the end of the calendar year. But in the meantime, Iran will enjoy the gold and money pouring in and the piecemeal, if not whole cloth, lifting of sanctions. What does the P5+1 get? Iran’s willingness to keep talking. What could be better?

For those who watched President Obama’s press conference from the Pentagon today about the threat of ISIS, they’d recognize an additional object of Ledeen’s sneer. That press conference took place at the Pentagon. Flanking the president at the podium were the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Secretary of Defense. Standing alongside his military men, Obama informed everyone, essentially, that “guns don’t defeat ideologies, only good ideas do.”

Ledeen wrote that if he were “a Pentagon official” standing next to a president who said that, “I’d have resigned on the spot.”

The way the “no deal deal” is likely to play out, if all goes as Ledeen predicts, is the players will act as if a deal has been accomplished, while “just some details” remain to be worked out.

This denouement will also pose a quandary to those in Congress who have been trying – some harder than others – to ensure that those elected officials will be able to have some say about whether a bad deal is implemented. But what happens when the deal is not actually a deal? There will be nothing for Congress to vote or take action on.

Kerry Travels to Vienna for Final (?) Nuclear Talks with Iran

Thursday, June 25th, 2015

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry is scheduled to return to the negotiating table on Friday for another round of nuclear talks with Iran.

“Secretary of State John Kerry will travel to Vienna, Austria on June 26 to participate in the ongoing EU-coordinated P5+1 nuclear negotiations with Iran,” spokesperson John Kirby said in a statement Thursday.

The delegation led by the U.S. includes Britain, France, Germany, China and Russia.

The six world powers are trying to reach an agreement with Tehran that would allow spot inspections of all Iranian nuclear facilities by United Nations International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors.

Under the agreement Iran would halt its uranium enrichment and nuclear technology development for the next ten years, in exchange for the UN lifting the crippling sanctions imposed against the Islamic Republic.

Thus far, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has nixed the terms of the deal, despite an offer from the delegation to provide everything Iran needs to produce peaceful nuclear energy, which Iran claims is all it seeks.

Among the items being offered are “high-tech light-water nuclear reactors and other state-of-the-art nuclear equipment,” according to a secret eight-page document obtained earlier this week and revealed exclusively by The Associated Press. Dated June 19 and entitled “Civil Nuclear Cooperation,” the report appears to call Iran’s bluff – but as Omri Ceren of The Israel Project noted in a response brief, it’s not that simple.

“Some country in the P5+1 will be helping the Iranians develop next generation centrifuges in a facility impenetrable to American and Israeli bombs,” Ceren contended. He added that “any country that wants to sabotage that development will be unable to do so, because the program will be protected and maintained by a major power.”

Although the centrifuges will be spinning non-nuclear elements during the course of the ten-year agreement, they will be primed and ready to enrich nuclear fuel the moment the agreement ends.

“The international community will literally be investing in helping Iran achieve a zero breakout,” Ceren warned.

The negotiations, which have already been extended twice before, are scheduled to conclude on June 30.

US, World Powers Offering Nuclear Equipment to Iran

Wednesday, June 24th, 2015

A secret eight-page document obtained Tuesday and revealed exclusively by The Associated Press shows just how far the U.S. and world powers are willing to go for a nuclear deal with a Iran.

Dated June 19 and entitled “Civil Nuclear Cooperation,” the document appears to make it clear the international delegation is providing everything Iran needs to produce peaceful nuclear power. Among the equipment to be provided are “high-tech reactors and other state-of-the-art equipment.”

Also on Tuesday, Iran’s Supreme Leader, the Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said in a speech broadcast live on national state television that Tehran would not agree to a long-term freeze on nuclear development. Nor would he allow international inspectors into military nuclear sites. Finally, he demanded that all sanctions against Iran be lifted immediately upon signing a deal with the U.S. led group of world powers.

In offering cutting-edge light-water nuclear reactors to replace its heavy-water facility at Arak – which if completed can produce several atomic weapons per year – in effect the group appears to call Iran’s bluff. Either it truly wants to produce nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, or not. If Iran turns the offer down, its intentions are clear.

But according to Omri Ceren of The Israel Project, it may not be that simple. “There is no ‘peaceful only.’ All of this stuff can be re-purposed for weapons work,” he wrote in an emailed reply to JewishPress.com.

“As the annex is written right now… this is no longer a deal to stop the Iranian nuclear program,” he pointed out in a brief prepared for TIP. “It’s a deal to let the Iranians perfect their nuclear program with international assistance and under international protection.

“Some country in the P5+1 will be helping the Iranians develop next-generation centrifuges in a facility impenetrable to American and Israeli bombs,” Ceren contended. “Conversely, any country that wants to sabotage that development will be unable to do so, because the program will be protected and maintained by a major power.

“As the centrifuges are being developed they’ll be spinning non-nuclear elements, but once they’re perfected the Iranians will be able to use them to enrich uranium. The international community will literally be investing in helping Iran achieve a zero breakout.”

Iranian Parliament Votes on Access to Nuclear Sites

Sunday, June 21st, 2015

The Iranian parliament appears to be nixing the deal over its nation’s nuclear technology being negotiated with the U.S.-led delegation of world powers.

The legislative body of the Islamic Republic voted Sunday to ban access to military sites and scientists as part of the deal in which talks are set to end on June 30.

“Access to military, security and sensitive non-nuclear sites, as well as documents and scientists, is forbidden,” the bill states in part. Inspectors from the United Nations International Atomic Energy Agency will only have “managed access” to military sites, and those under strict control and very specific circumstances.

If ratified by the Guardian Council, the bill will become law.

It could kill the talks currently taking place in Vienna between Iranian and international negotiators representing the U.S., UK, France, Russia, China and Germany.

Of 213 legislators, 199 voted to require the United Nations to completely eliminate international sanctions against Iran upon launching any agreement over its nuclear development program.

However, after all of that, the parliament also approved a measure to remove its authority over the deal in a surprise amendment giving the right of supervision to Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC).

The SNSC, chaired by President Hassan Rouhani, is comprised of government ministers, military commanders and other top officials appointed by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

At the bottom line, however, it will be the Supreme Leader who will ultimately make the decision as to how the deal will go.
