Tel Aviv to Curb Bikes on Sidewalks After Pesach

Tel Aviv police will be on the prowl starting May 1 to enforce the city’s no-riding-bikes-on-the-sidewalk law.

Law breakers face fines between NIS 100 to NIS 1,000. Other punitive measures will include taking the air out of one’s bicycle tires and confiscation of the bike’s batteries (for kids illegally riding electric bicycles.)

Violations include riding in the wrong direction, using a mobile phone while riding, going through a red light and disturbing pedestrians in the crosswalks.

Tel Aviv is lined with specially-marked bicycle paths.

13-Year-Old Pisgat Ze’ev Terror Victim Awake and Communicating

The 13-year-old Jewish boy that was stabbed in Pisgat Ze’ev by the Arab terrorist is awake and communicating with family and staff.

The boy was brought to the hospital in critical condition, unable to breath on his own.

The head of the surgical department, Professor Achmed Ayid, reports that while the young man has a long way to go he is now stable and doing well.

Secretary of State John Kerry Breaks a Leg

While bicycling outside of Geneva, near Sconzier, France, US Secretary of State John Kerry crashed his bicycle into a curb and broke his leg.

Kerry was transported by helicopter to Geneva’s main hospital. He was reported to be conscious and stable, according to AP.

Kerry was holding nuclear talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

Once he’s out, Kerry will be heading back to Boston, calling off the rest of his 4 nation diplomatic tour, which included a planned trip to Spain and Paris.

Bicyclist Attacked Near Jerusalem’s Old City

A 20-year-old man told police he was attacked by Arabs Tuesday night as he rode his bicycle near the New Gate of the Old City of Jerusalem.

The man was listed in fair to good condition at Hadassah Ein Kerem Medical Center after he was struck with a lead pipe.

Israel Police and Border Patrol officers have arrested two 19-year-old Arab males in connection with the attack. Both were held for further questioning.

The arrests were made after searches were conducted using footage from security cameras.

Teenagers Cycling from Hebron to J’lem

500 bicycle enthusiasts are making currently making their way from Hebron to Jerusalem to celebrate Jerusalem Day. The bike trek, held in honour of terror victim Yitzhak Boanish HY”D, has become an annual feature of the holiday celebration.

Malachi Levinger, head of the Hebron-Kiryat Arba city council, said “this is the 11th time that young people from Kiryat Arba/Hebron have undertaken this challenge, both to honor our beloved security chief Yitzhak Boanish, as well as to forge a special connection between Hebron, the city of our forefathers, and Jerusalem in a special, exciting way.”
