State Department Continues Grudge Match Against Ya’alon

Saturday, October 25th, 2014

The U.S. State Department spokesperson tried her darnedest to downplay U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry’s refusal to meet with Israel’s Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon when the latter was in Washington, D.C. last week.

On Tuesday, Oct. 21, Ya’alon arrived in Washington where he met with his American counterpart, Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel and American intelligence officials.

However, according to YNet, the Obama administration refused Ya’alon’s request to meet with other top U.S. officials, including Secretary of State John Kerry, Vice President Joe Biden, and National Security Advisor Susan Rice.

The snub was chalked up to lingering enmity resulting from private remarks made by Ya’alon – but which were publicly reported – in which Ya’alon allegedly spoke derisively about Kerry’s efforts to broker a peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinian Arabs.

Ya’alon allegedly said Kerry came to Israel “determined and acting out of misplaced obsession and messianic fervor,” and described the American security plan for Israel as “not worth the paper it is written on. It contains no peace and no security.”

The Americans went ballistic, saying that if the comments attributed to Ya’alon are accurate, they are “offensive and inappropriate” and described them as “shocking.”

Ya’alon later issued an apology in a written statement: “The defense minister had no intention to cause any offense to the secretary, and he apologizes if the secretary was offended by words attributed to the minister.”

American officials apparently are not used to being insulted publicly, and when it happens, not having a groveling response. And so, apparently, the fallout continues.

In the State Department’s Daily Press Briefing on Friday, Oct. 24, the spokesperson was asked about reports that Ya’alon’s request to meet with Kerry had been denied.

The senior reporter in the briefing, Matt Lee, of the Associated Press, asked the spokesperson about the alleged rebuff. Lee asked whether the denial of Ya’alon’s request was due to Kerry still being “peeved” by Ya’alon’s alleged remarks. Psaki sure seemed to be.

QUESTION: Okay. And then there are reports in Israel and elsewhere that Israeli Defense Minister Ya’alon was denied meetings or the Administration rejected requests from the Israelis for him to meet with, among other people, Secretary Kerry but also Susan Rice at the White House and Vice President Biden. And I’m just wondering, realizing you don’t speak for the White House, can you say if a meeting was sought with Secretary Kerry, who I believe was out of the country until – I know was out of the country until Wednesday night. Was there a meeting sought and denied?

MS. PSAKI: I don’t have anything in terms of internal discussions about meetings to parlay to you, but he did meet with Defense Secretary Hagel, which – who is his counterpart, which is a natural standard procedure.

QUESTION: Is it fair to say that the Administration and particularly this building and then particularly Secretary Kerry are still a bit peeved with Defense Minister Ya’alon’s criticisms?

MS. PSAKI: Well, I think, Matt, as you know, Secretary Kerry has spoken to this himself shortly after the comments made by Defense Minister Ya’alon and made clear that he’d been the target of much worse than words. And I think obviously, he works closely with a range of Israeli officials and he didn’t meet with him this time. He’s met with him in the past and he met with Secretary Hagel, who is his counterpart.

However, Israel’s defense minister did meet with the influential Washington Post journalist Lally Weymouth, who began the wide-ranging interview asking about Ya’alon’s comments about Kerry, to which the minister of defense responded laconically, “We overcame that.”

Weymouth then asked about Kerry’s recent statement that the failure to resolve the “Israeli-Palestinian issue” is leading to street anger and recruitment for ISIS. Ya’alon did not mention Kerry by name, but said that the conflict “is dominated by too many misconceptions.” He pointed instead to the Sunni-Shia conflict as being the far more accurate linkage. In discussing the Palestinian Arab-Israeli conflict, Ya’alon made clear that territorial concessions are exactly the wrong tack for Israel to take, suggesting that another Hamastan would rise in Judea and Samaria.

I am Shelly Dadon

Wednesday, May 14th, 2014

I am Shelly Dadon.  I was murdered only because I was Jewish.  A future Israeli government will release my murderers for the chance to sit and talk ‘peace’ with the Palestinian Arabs and enable them to murder more Israeli Jews.

19-year-old Shelly Dadon’s last words to her cousin were “there is someone scary here.  I am being strangled.”  From Shelly’s Hebrew it was inferred that a woman terrorist was strangling her.  Then, it appears, she was repeatedly stabbed to death. Over 2,000 Israelis in her home town of Afula came out to demonstrate for her.

And, Israeli Minister of Justice Tzipi Livni wants to release more terrorists so she can sit with my murderers’ bosses.

Livni has Shelly Dadon’s blood on her hands.

I am Shelly Dadon.  I was murdered only because I was Jewish.  Livni will one day release my murderers, enabling the murder of more Jews.

The rabbi burying Shelly Dadon said she was “murdered only because she was Jewish.”  Thousands of Israelis Jews have been murdered since the messianic Peace Cultists signed the Oslo “Peace” Accords only because they were Jewish.  16-year-old Daniel Viflic was on a yellow school bus near Gaza when Hamas terrorists fired an anti-tank missile into his school bus.  Daniel Viflic is dead and buried and forgotten by most of us.

Isaac Herzog, the head of Labor, wants to accede to virtually all of Abbas’ demands to release as many terrorist prisoners that he possibly can.

Herzog has Shelly’s Dadon’s blood on his hands.

I am Shelly Dadon. I was murdered only because I was Jewish.  Herzog will one day release my murderers, enabling the murder of more Jews.

Doesn’t Prime Minister Netanyahu understand that by not executing Arab terrorist murderers, putting them in comfy jails, with internet, paying Abbas hundreds of millions of dollars a month so he can pay the terrorists in Israeli jails, allowing them to smuggle out their sperm, and then allowing them to be released to wild celebrations of heroism, Israel has validated and sanctified the Palestinian narrative that they are Freedom Fighters – and that the Arab terror narrative will win.

Doesn’t Prime Minister Netanyahu understand that for any would-be Palestinian Arab terrorist, there is only upside and no down-side to their wanton slaughter of Israeli Jews only because they are Jewish?

Netanyahu has Shelly Dadon’s blood on his hands.

I am Shelly Dadon. I was murdered only because I was Jewish.  Netanyahu will one day release my murderers, enabling the murder of more Jews.

Doesn’t Defense Minister Ya’alon understand that if Israel has to pay the Palestinians’ price of Palestinian Arab terrorist murderers for the “right” to even sit down with the Palestinian Authority in peace talks, that this is not “strategic” this is “suicidal.”  Under Ya’alon’s theory that the terrorist murders’ releases were “strategic,” what exactly does Israel expect to result from the peace talks?

Worse, you have perversely given the terrorists an incentive to kill more Israelis.  Because, the murderers know Israel will be forced to release them for merely to chance to sit with Abbas’ “peace” team.

Ya’alon has Shelly’s Dadon’s blood on his hands.

I am Shelly Dadon.  I was murdered only because I was Jewish.  Ya’alon will one day release my murderers, enabling the murder of more Jews.

The Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Benjamin (Benny) Gantz, spoke at the ceremony: “Today we mark a new peak in the IDF’s capabilities. Over its 50 years of service, Hercules planes took part in military aid missions, civilian, and humanitarian operations. The “Samson” aircraft joining the IAF today is an innovative and revolutionary addition to our forces. This type of aircraft gives the IDF extended operational flexibility and strengthens our long range capabilities, making us more accurate and powerful than ever. The progressive systems the “Samson” aircraft is equipped with will allow us to execute more complex operations than in the past- we will be able to operate faster, in all weather conditions, in greater distance, in lower altitude and in maximum discretion.”

Major General Amir Eshel, Commander of the Israel Air Force, also spoke at the inauguration ceremony: “This plane reinforces the IDF’s abilities to operate far beyond the shores of Israel. The combination of this Lockheed Martin manufactured aircraft with the special Israeli technological systems which were installed on it make the ‘Samson’ C-130J Super Hercules Aircraft the best plane of its kind.

The variety of tasks the aircraft is destined for is beyond all imagination. This aircraft is a testimony of the unique strategic relationship between the State of Israel and the US, to the strong ties between the IAF and the USAF, as well as to the continuing cooperation with Lockheed Martin, manufacturer of the ‘Samson’ C-130J Super Hercules Aircraft, the F-16 Fighting Falcon and the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II.”
