Texas PR/Tech Guru Killed in Tel Aviv Car Accident

A 41-year-old man from Ra’anana suffered a heart attack on Saturday night. The man lost control of his car and drove it into the Furama sidewalk restaurant in Tel Aviv, according to police.

Three people were killed in the accident, several more were injured.

One of those killed was Alan Weinkratz, a Tech/PR/Social Media guru from San Antonio, Texas.

Weinkratz regular traveled back and forth between Israel and the US, promoting Israel, technology and advising Israeli startups.

Weinkratz, along with MK Michael Oren, met with JewishPress.com in December 2015, at Hub Etzion, a co-working startup space, where Weinkratz was offering advice to the local startups in the newly formed business hub, while learning more about the burgeoning startup community in Gush Etzion.

At the time Weinkratz presented Oren with his signature Rackspace poster that points an arrow at Israel as “The Five-Thousand Year Old Startup”.

Update: Car Vs. Camel: Three Injured

Three people have been injured after a car collided with a camel that was walking along Highway 1 near the Almog junction. The accident happened just before 9 PM on Thursday, according to a TPS report.

Police say that the driver, age 35, has been seriously injured with a head injury. His five-year-old son who was in the car was lightly injured.

The initial police investigation says that a local resident was riding his camel along the side of the road when the car hit them for reasons still unknown. The camel-rider was lightly injured.

All three have been evacuated for medical treatment.

The Almog junction is at the end of Highway 1 near the Dead Sea.

Stone Throwers Cause Car Accident on 443

Stone throwers on Road 443 hit a car near the Maccabim checkpoint on Wednesday night.

As a result of the attack, the driver lost control of his vehicle.

He is being treated for light injuries.

Israeli Tourists Die in Car Accident in Switzerland

An Israeli mother and daughter from Rishon LeZion have died in a car accident in southeastern Switzerland. The two Israelis died after crossing the Italian-Swiss border, while traveling from Milan.

Israel’s Foreign Minister said Wednesday the families were notified overnight.

The bodies of the mother, in her 50s and the daughter, in her 20s, have both been identified.

The Israeli embassy in Switzerland is making arrangements to transport the two citizens back home to Israel.

Lebanese Car Crashes into Israel Border Fence

Sunday, June 8th, 2014

On Saturday night, a Lebanese car ran into the crash/infiltration barrier separating the border between Lebanon and Israel. The incident happened near the entrance to the Fatma/Metulla gate, according to a report on Rotter.

UNIFIL soldiers towed the car away. It doesn’t appear to have breached the fence.

No other information is known about the incident.

Arab Driver Rams Into Air Force Base Gate

Thursday, September 12th, 2013

At 8 AM, a 54 year old, Arab resident of Natzrat Ilit rammed into the gate of the Ramat David Air Force base in northern Israel.

The driver had indicated to the guards that he had planned to make a U-Turn, and then ran full speed into the gate, and suffered light injuries as a result.

He was taken to the hospital, and police are investigating if it was an accident or attempted terror attack.

Two weeks ago, Palestinian Authority Arabs rammed through the Ben-Gurion Airport security gate.
