600 Million Israel Spiders Attack Enemies of S. American Crops

Tuesday, November 24th, 2015

Israel is on the attack, but this time it is with kibbutz spiders grown as a natural pesticide to fight enemies of crops in Colombia, Globes reported.

The carnivorous spiders are grown in the Bio-Bee laboratories at Sde Eliyahu, a national religious kibbutz located in the Jordan Valley, approximately five miles south of Beit Shean and near the border with Jordan.

It has grown spiders that will be flown to Colombia and multiply to 600 million to eat up spiders half their size. They are kept refrigerated and then reproduce after being released in warm air at their destination.

The kibbutz spiders chase after the smaller enemy, hunt it down and then suck it dry.

Bio-Bee is looking forward to marketing the natural pesticide to replace chemicals.

Sde Eliyahu says the carnivorous spiders are expensive to grow. It takes only a week from incubation to reach the adult stage, but they fetch a price of tens of thousands of dollars and ounce.

Latin American Trading Moving Up on Israeli Agenda

Tuesday, August 20th, 2013

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is working to improve economic ties with politically friendly Latin American countries in order to compensate for the crippled economy of Israel’s main trading continent, Europe.

The new effort to increase Latin American trading, particularly with Chile, Peru, Colombia and Mexico, will compliment Netanyahu’s simultaneous effort to increase economic ties with China and other East Asian countries. These four Latin American countries formed the free-trade Pacific Alliance last year and account for about 36 percent of the continent’s gross domestic product (GDP). They all trade significantly with North America.

Currently in Latin America, Brazil is Israel’s main trading partner, taking in Israeli exports at about $1.1 billion per year and importing to Israel at about $400 million per year. In June, Israeli President Shimon Peres signed a free-trade agreement with Colombia.

Argentine Prosecutor: Iran Running Latin American Terrorist Networks

Thursday, May 30th, 2013

Argentine State Prosecutor Alberto Nisman accused Iran on Wednesday of establishing terrorist networks in Latin America dating back to the 1980s and said he would send his findings to courts in the affected countries, Reuters reported.

Nisman presented a 500-page document, with evidence of Iran’s operation of an “intelligence and terrorist network” in Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, Chile, Colombia, Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago and Suriname.

Regarding the bombing of the AMIA (Asociacion Mutual Israelita Argentina) center in Buenos Aires, there are arrest warrants out for nine men, eight Iranians—including Iranian Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi and presidential candidate Mohsen Rezaie —and one, possibly, Lebanese.

Nisman said new evidence proves beyond reasonable doubt Mohsen Rabbani’s responsibility for the bombing, in his former role as the Iranian cultural attaché in Argentina, and “coordinator of the Iranian infiltration of South America, especially in Guyana.”

Argentina’s Congress this year approved a “truth commission” with Iran, to investigate the AMIA bombing. But many Argentine Jewish leaders feared the commission was only going to undermine the Nisman investigation.

Argentine President Cristina Fernandez has close ties with other Latin American leaders who are friends of Iran, such as Venezuela’s Nicolas Maduro and Ecuador’s Rafael Correa, Reuters reports.
