A Jerusalem court has sentenced a 29-year-old man to two consecutive life terms in prison for the brutal knife murders of his parents, which he tried to cover up by using tips from the Internet on “”how to kill your parents and get away with it.”
A sick mind that can run up gambling debts and then even think about murdering his parents, one of them suffering from cancer, proves its twisted state when it comes up with the idea of blaming a twin brother for the murders.
How sick can a sick mind be sick? The murderer, Daniel Maoz, even tried to claim that he did not tell anyone about his brother’s alleged attacks because he was afraid he would reveal something about Maoz’s past as a pedophile.
Maoz’s parents had invited him to their home for dinner. He returned the favor by stabbing his parents dozens of times – 71, to be exact – and continued his primitive attack as they tried to defend themselves, until succumbing to their wounds.
He then turned his back on their dead bodies and began trying to erase the evidence. Afterwards, Maoz went to an ATM machine, withdrew about $500 in shekels, and calmly went to his favorite gambling place so he could continue to bet his way to happiness while using it as an alibi that he was nowhere near the scene of the crime.
Like many criminals with a mind that is no less manipulative than that of Pharaoh, Maoz spent his waiting time in prison putting on a kippa, growing a beard and learning Torah.
If he had been sincere, the court might have been able to find some mercy, such as combining the life sentences instead of making them consecutive.
Maoz ignored DNA evidence at the scene of the crime and insisted throughout the trial that is twin brother was the killer. An examination of the murderer’s computer revealed that he had surfed to find out, “Can soap clean DNA from a knife? Maoz insisted he simply was checking out the sites out of curiosity.”
What is even more curious is his mind.
The judicial panel, headed by Judge Tzvi Segal, found that “without a reasonable doubt, the defendant attacked his parents in cold blood…. We did not find any signs of respect by the defendant for his parents. The earth is shouting and the heavens are trembling.”
It added that the blood his cancer-stricken mother, age 60, and the blood of father, 64. was spilled “cruelly and for no reason” by their son.
“The defendant not only did not express regret, but he also continued to blame his brother for the Satanic murder, thoroughly planned out to achieve the aim of a twisted mind.
Pharaoh never admitted the truth. Maybe Maoz won’t either. Maybe he will.Tzvi Ben-Gedalyahu
