The Keys to the Jewish Kingdom Tour [photos]

Tuesday, August 30th, 2016

If you’re touring Israel and don’t go inside a Hamas terror tunnel and visit an Iron Dome installation, it’s like going to Disney World without buying the special backstage pass to see the Magic Kingdom’s underground Utilidor tunnels and other hidden areas.

U.S. Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs Thomas Shannon visited southern Israel on August 29, 2016.

He stopped at the Kerem Shalom crossing point to see how goods enter and leave the Gaza Strip.

He was briefed on and toured a Hamas tunnel that had been discovered by the IDF.

He met with local residents from several communities at Kibbutz Or HaNer, and at the Kibbutz he toured the Ornit factory.

He also visited an Iron Dome battery (but wasn’t allowed to press the red button).

That’s the Jewish Kingdom’s backstage pass tour. Beats Disney any day of the week – especially Shabbat.

French Politician Sorry for Praising Image of Peres Choking Peter Pan

Thursday, August 7th, 2014

A French senator has apologized for any misunderstandings connected to her praise for a campaign featuring fake pictures of Israeli leaders murdering Disney cartoon characters, bit she insists that the images were not anti-Semitic.

Nathalie Goulet of the Union of Democrats and Independents party made the endorsement on Twitter earlier this week, Europe1.fr reported, in posting on her account the images of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu bludgeoning a dying Pinocchio. Other pictures showed Israeli Justice Minister Tzipi Livni stabbing Cinderella and former Israeli President Shimon Peres choking Peter Pan.

“Very powerful campaign against children mass murder,” Goulet wrote about the pictures.

Mehdi Thomas Allal, who heads the anti-discrimination department of the human rights group Terra Nova, accused Goulet of “presenting Jews as killers of children, echoing many such caricatures in the period before World War II” in an Op-Ed he wrote for the online edition of the Le Nouvel Observateur weekly. Allal wrote that Goulet should be prosecuted for her action, which he qualified as “a slip toward anti-Semitism.”

Amid more criticism, Goulet apologized on Twitter.

“This tweet has been misunderstood and I’m absolutely sorry for that,” she wrote, “but I persist in saying that what’s happening in Gaza is a scandal. I revolt at the sight of dead children, and at the international community’s silence. The tweet may have been inappropriate.”

But before her apology, Goulet defended her actions, writing on Twitter that she had Jewish roots and adding, “I am not a self-hating Jew, but that’s nobody’s business.”

She also wrote: “Anti-Semitism is what they come up with when they have nothing better to say,” and “I find it astonishing that the community is less shocked by images of dead children than by Disney characters. This is proof the campaign is working!”

She did not say which community she meant.

Disney Buys Israeli Animation of ‘Dolphin Boy’

Tuesday, November 26th, 2013

Disney Documentary has bought the Israeli animated story of “Dolphin Boy,” about an Israeli Arab who became mute after being a brutal beating in his Arab village and who underwent rehabilitation through communication with dolphins in Eilat.

Disney intends to promote the production into a full  animated feature, the Times of Israel reported. The father of the boy, whose name is Morad, refused experts’ advice to send him to a mental institution and instead moved from his northern village to Eilat, where doctors worked for four years with dolphins and Morad to bring him back to the level of communicating with people.

Arab Donald Duck Tweets for Israel to be ‘Demolished’

Wednesday, August 7th, 2013

An Egyptian radio host who identifies himself as the official voice of Donald Duck on Disney Middle East called on Twitter for Israel to be “demolished.”

The discussion that began Sunday on the Twitter feed of Wael Mansour continued on Tuesday.

“I truly wish #Israel is demolished, I hate Zionism, I have so much hate inside me with every single child they murder or land they seize!” Mansour tweeted Sunday. The tweet followed one that read: “I saw a video of Israeli soldiers brutally arresting a palestinian woman in front of her 3 children coz they seized her home & she objects!” which could explain his Twitter outburst.

Mansour responded to some critics by tweeting: “I don’t know why insulting #Israel & #Zionism is “Anti-Semitic”?! They are just a bunch of Polish/ Ethiopian immigrants roughly 70 years old” and “There are Jews who hate Zionism; does it make them Jews Anti-Jews?! Of course NO! We respect Jews & disrespect Zionism, there’s a difference.”

The Algemeiner called on Disney chairman Bob Iger, who is Jewish, to respond to the controversy. Disney owns the rights to Donald Duck.

Contacted directly via Twitter by the Algemeiner, Mansour told the paper, “The Zionist entity is a racist entity by definition, performing crimes of hate by the power of its criminal law. I stand firm by what I said.”

Mansour said Egypt “dictates an overwhelming Islamic sentiment that happened normally. On the other hand, the Zionist entity is a bunch of immigrants stealing lands and creating a state based on a racist difference.”
