2 IDF Soldiers Wounded, 5 Bombs Still ‘Hot’ in Attack at Hizme Checkpoint

Tuesday, May 10th, 2016

An IDF officer and a second soldier were wounded Tuesday night in a quadruple bomb attack at the Hizme checkpoint, while an hour later five more bombs were defused by IDF sappers.

The IED (improvised explosive device) were detonated by terrorists as the officer was searching a suspicious package planted on the road at the entrance to the checkpoint.

Two pipe bombs were discovered attached to a gas canister shortly after that initial bombing attack, according to local sources. The Adam junction was evacuated for the safety of everyone in the area.

Sappers then discovered five more additional bombs as well, including that which was tied up with the gas canister. The bomb squad carefully worked on dismantling all five bombs at the site.

The IDF officer, meanwhile, was evacuated to Hadassah Ein Kerem Medical Center with serious face and upper body wounds, according to Magen David Adom medics on the scene. The victim sustained head and facial wounds but was fully conscious.

A second soldier was in stable condition after sustaining shrapnel wounds in the leg. He too was treated at the scene before he was evacuated for further treatment.

The Hizme checkpoint is located near the northern Jerusalem neighborhood of Pisgat Ze’ev, not far from the Jewish community of Adam.

FBI Sting Gets Man Who Planned to Bomb Florida Synagogue

Monday, May 2nd, 2016

The FBI arrested a man who was planning to throw an explosive device into an Aventura, south Florida synagogue, WSVN reported. The arrest followed an FBI sting intended to foil a terror attack at the Aventura Turnberry Jewish Center, last Friday evening. According to WSVN, FBI agents posing as terrorists stopped the suspect, who may have converted to Islam.

According to sources, the suspect wanted to throw “some type of explosive device” over the wall of the center on Friday night, which was the last day of Passover and the center was crowded.

“I think about, before we had a baby, that we used to go there for services, and God forbid, it could have been us,” local resident Stephanie Levine told WSVN. “Thank God they stopped him, but had they not, it would have been such a horrible thing to happen to this neighborhood.”

But the same sources said the center was not in danger at any time, because the suspect was taken into custody before he was able to cause any damage.

“Of course it surprised me,” local resident Richard Levinson told WSVN. “Everybody says, ‘I live in a small town. It doesn’t happen here,’ but the sad part is, it happens everywhere.”

And local resident Kim Tepper said she was not surprised, because “it’s a very scary world, and you know what? I don’t think that anybody is safe anywhere. We’d always thought, living in this area, that we could be targeted, so now you’re kind of confirming that for me. Not happy.”

The suspect will appear in federal court this week.

Jerusalem Bus Bomber Dead, Other Arrests Made

Thursday, April 21st, 2016

By Jesse Lempel/TPS

Jerusalem (TPS) – The Hamas operative who detonated a bomb on a Jerusalem bus this week has died in an Israeli hospital, the Israeli police confirmed on Thursday, partially lifting a gag order on the investigation. A police spokesperson further revealed that several other suspects have been arrested.

Abdel Hamid Abu Srour, a 19-year-old Hamas operative from the town of Beit Jala near Bethlehem, detonated an explosive device on the number 12 public bus in Jerusalem on Monday, injuring 20 people, including one seriously. Abu Srour died of his wounds on Wednesday in Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem. The Shin Bet (Israeli Security Agency) characterized the bombing as a “suicide attack.”

The police, Shin Bet, and IDF conducted extensive raids in Bethlehem on Tuesday, arresting multiple Hamas activists who are suspected of helping Abu Srour plan and carry out the terror attack.

Further details of the investigation remain under a gag order.

Following Abu Srour’s death on Wednesday evening, the Hamas terror organization claimed responsibility for the attack and called him a “martyr.” Spontaneous celebrations erupted in Bethlehem and Gaza, with people passing out candy in the streets to celebrate the bus bombing.

Four victims of the terror attack are being treated at Jerusalem’s Hadassah Medical Center. Three are in the intensive care unit on respirators, said Hadassah spokeswoman Hadar Elboim on Thursday.

“We will locate the men who created this bomb, we will reach the men who sent the bomber as well as the ones behind them,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said after Monday’s terror attack. “We will settle the account with these terrorists.”

IDF Kills Palestinian Authority Terrorist Who Wanted to ‘Meet Allah’

Wednesday, June 10th, 2015

Israeli soldiers killed a Palestinian Authority terrorist who was attacking them with an explosive device early Wednesday morning.

Border Police had finished arresting suspected terrorists when they spotted Ezzedine Ghora, 23, preparing to hurl the improvised bomb at them. It was not clear if the terrorist died from IDF fire or from the explosive device, which blew up.

His last Facebook message was:

One loves (willing) to meet Allah, Allah loves meeting him.

Jenin is in “Area A,” where the Palestinian Authority is supposed to be responsible for tearing down the terrorist infrastructure.

Foreign media, such as Reuters reported Wednesday morning’s incident with the usual claim, this time by “hospital officials,” that there had been no confrontation, just like Gaza Arabs trying to attack the IDF at the security fence actually were playing soccer.

A dragnet was thrown around the area and all entrances and exits were shut down. As of 4:45 pm the area was still cordoned off, according to Israel Police spokesperson Micky Rosenfeld.
