State Dept. Approves $300M Sale to Israel of Sea Hawk Helicopters, Military Parts

Thursday, July 7th, 2016

The U.S. State Department has notified Congress that its Defense Security Cooperation Agency approved a proposed $300 million sale to Israel of excess SH-60F Sea Hawk helicopter equipment and technical support.

Israel has been approved to receive eight (8) SH-60F Sea Hawk Helicopters via the Excess Defense Articles (EDA) Program under a separate notification. “That separate notification included only the SH-60 airframes, thus this transmittal includes all the major components and customer-unique requirements requested to supplement the EDA grant transfer,” the agency said Wednesday in a statement.

General Electric and Science and Engineering Services are to serve as principal contractors for the sale.

The Sea Hawks are to be used on board four new frigates purchased by the Jewish State for use in securing the mammoth Leviathan natural gas field beneath the waters of the Mediterranean Sea. Spares and repair parts were to be sold, as well as test and commuication equipment, ferry support, publication and technical documentation.

“The Government of Israel has requested to procure twelve (12) T-700 GE 401C engines (ten (10) installed and two (2) spares), eight (8) AN/APN-194(V) Radar Altimeters; eight (8) AN/APN-217A Doppler Radar Navigation Sets; eight (8) AN/ARN-15l (V)2 Global Positioning Systems; eight (8) AN/APX100(V) Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) Transponder Sets; eight (8) OA-8697 A/ARD Direction Finding Groups; eight (8) AN/ARN-118(V) NAV Receivers; eight (8) AN/ARN-146 On Top Position Indicators; sixteen (16) IP-1544A/ASQ-200 Horizontal Situation Video Displays (HSVD); eight (8) AN/ARC-174A (V)2 HF Radios; sixteen (16) AN/ARC182(V) UHF/UHF Radios; eight (8) PIN 70600-81010-011 Communication System Controllers; eight (8) GAU-16 50 Caliber Machine Guns; eight (8) M-60D/M-240 Machine Guns; eight (8) Internal Auxiliary Fuel Tanks; sixteen (16) External Auxiliary Fuel Tanks; and eight (8) C-11822/AWQ Controllers, Armament System. Also included are spares and repair parts, support and test equipment, communication equipment, ferry support, publications and technical documentation, U.S. Government and contractor engineering, technical and logistics support services, and other related elements of logistical and program support,” the agency said in its statement.

“This proposed sale will contribute to the foreign policy and national security of the United States by helping to improve the security of a strategic regional partner, which has been, and continues to be, an important force for political stability and economic progress in the Middle East,” the statement said.

Israel Retaliates for Gaza Rocket Fire

Monday, December 14th, 2015

Israel’s Air Force attacked two targets in Gaza Sunday following a rocket attack on southern Israel over the weekend.

Rocketfire landed in an open field in the Shaar HaNegev regional district.

Gaza terrorists generally strike Israel and then hide: Israel usually responds with a “proportionate” response until serious damage was done.

On Sunday, the IDF struck a Hamas military base in northern Gaza and a base for the wing in northern Gaza and in central Gaza.

The rocket landed in an open area within the Shaar HaNegev regional council district, just weeks after the last such attack.

There were no wounded reported on either side.

IDF Helicopter Flew Arson Victims to Tel Aviv Hospital [video]

Friday, July 31st, 2015

The IDF has released a video showing Palestinian Authority medics and Israeli soldiers working together to carry a victim of the arson-murder Friday morning to a military helicopter.

The aircraft flew to Tel HaShomer Hospital.

An 18-month-old baby dies in the “price-tag” arson, and the mother and another child are un critical condition.

The Jewish terrorists threw a Molotov cocktail into the window of the victims’ small home in the village of Duma, near Shechem. Four Jews fled the scene, according to eyewitnesses.

The IDF and police are combing Judea and Samaria to search and arrest the attackers.

The funeral for the baby will take place after Muslim prayers Friday morning. The major of Duma said he is sure Israeli authorities will do everything they can to catch the criminals, but added he cannot do anything to prevent villagers from expressing their rage.

UPDATE: IAF Eliminates Senior Hezbollah Commander on Golan Heights

Sunday, January 18th, 2015

8:49 PM Another possible Hezbollah casualty may have been Abu Ali Tabtabai, Hezbollah’s commander for Syrian operations. This is still unconfirmed.

Some Lebanese sources are now saying that 6 Iranians and 5 Hezbollah terrorists were killed on the Golan Heights strike.

8:19 PM The number of Hezbollah terrorists killed appears to now be six, including 3 senior terrorists, among them senior Hezbollah commander Jihad Mughniyeh, an Iranian field commander and Hezbollah field commander Mohammad Issa.

They were assisting in preparing a rocket to launch at Israel at the time.

7:54 PM Reports are coming in that the IAF helicopter strike earlier this afternoon took out at least five Hezbollah terrorists operating on the Syrian side of the Golan Heights, including senior Hezbollah commander Jihad Mughniyeh.

There are reports that Iranian field commander Abu Ali Tabtabai was also killed in the air strike.

Hezbollah’s Jihad Mughniyeh was charged by Nasrallah to set up the operations for Hezbollah to attack Israel from the Golan Heights .

In July 2013, JewishPress.com reported that Hezbollah was setting up a terror division on the Golan Heights , this was followed by a Druze report in October 2014 which said that Samir Kuntar was in charge of organizing a Golan Heights terror cell.

Jihad Mughniyeh was the head of the Hezbollah Heights terror cell, and Samir Kuntar was member of it.

Hezbollah has gone on full alert along the Israeli border in Lebanon and on the Golan.

Reports in Lebanon are that Israeli fighter planes are flying overhead.

Samir Kuntar’s brother claims that Samir is still alive.

5:20 PM It is not clear what exactly the Israeli Air Force hit in southern Syria on the Golan Heights near Kuneitra, but it does appear that an IAF helicopter shot two missiles and hit some bad guys.

Lebanese MTV network reports that an Israeli helicopter strike on Southern Syria hit a cell that was preparing to launch a rocket at Israel.

Other Arab source indicates that the helicopter hit a moving convoy.

Israeli Channel 2 TV is now saying that Israeli hit Jabhat Al-Nusrah fighters, while Channel 10 says that Jabhat Al-Nusrah fighters were setting out to plant a bomb and the IAF hit them.

The IDF had no comment.

Yeshiva Student Missing in Jerusalem Forest Since Friday

Sunday, August 24th, 2014

Israel Police are asking the public to help search for Aaron Sofer, 23, a yeshiva student who went missing around midday last Friday in the Beit Zayit area of the Jerusalem Forest.

Sofer is described as being 5’9″ (1.75 meters) tall, with a short red beard. He wears glasses, a white shirt, black slacks and a black yarmulka. Sofer is a permanent resident of Lakewood, New Jersey.

“Police units are still carrying out an intensive search for [him] in the Jerusalem Forest area where he disappeared,” Israel Police spokesperson Micky Rosenfeld told JewishPress.com on Sunday evening. “The background [is still] not clear.”

Apparently Sofer disappeared while hiking in the woods with a friend on Friday; the two walked down a steep slope, taking a diverging path, and subsequently he did not reappear as expected.

The second hiker called police to report Sofer missing within six hours — when it became clear that Sofer had not arrived back at yeshiva in time to prepare for Shabbat, at 6 pm.

Police search and rescue units, along with a K-9 unit, were deployed, along with helicopters for an aerial search, and continue to scan from the skies and on the ground below.

The ZAKA emergency response and rescue organization, along with the Israel Hatzolah first responder emergency medical organization were both called by police overnight on Shabbat to assist in the search.

Three Jerusalem neighborhoods are located along the edges of the forest: Bayit V’Gan, Hadassah and Ein Kerem. All three are located above and overlook the forested areas.

Dozens of volunteers went out in force searching for the student after the Sabbath ended on Saturday night, when rabbis and other community leaders announced he was missing.

Thus far, no trace has been found.

Anyone with information that might lead to knowledge of the student’s whereabouts is asked to please call 02-539-1520 or the Israel Police hotline at “100.”

The public is asked to pray for the safe return of Aharon ben Chulda.
