Arab League Presses for Israel to Disclose Nuclear Development

Tuesday, July 21st, 2015

The other shoe has fallen.

The Arab League has used the “ObamaDeal” nuclear agreement as a lever to exert diplomatic pressure on Israel to “join the non-proliferation agreement (NPT) as a non-nuclear state.”

Israel, assumed to have stockpile nuclear warheads, has maintained a position of “nuclear ambiguity” whereby it clams up about any nuclear weapons.

Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Elaraby said:

It’s time for the international community… to stop its policy of double standards and to undertake its responsibilities by pressuring Israel.

The U.N. General Assembly last year adopted a resolution calling for Israel to join the NPT and open the Dimona nuclear reactor to IAEA inspection.

Israel also possesses five German-made Dolphin-class submarines that reportedly can carry cruise missiles with nuclear warheads.

ObamaDeal: US to Protect Iranian Nuke Sites from Israeli Attack

Monday, July 20th, 2015

“ObamaDeal” explicitly states that the United States and the other P5+1 powers can help Iran deflect and even “respond” to sabotage and nuclear threats to its nuclear sites.

The damming evidence that ObamaDeal directly allows Western powers to help Iran to protect its nuclear sites, and possibly even to stage a counter-attack on the source of the threat, is stated in Annex III of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). Congress is reviewing the agreement and has the option to cancel America’s commitments under the deal.

You have to reach page 142 of the JCPOA until you reach “Annex III: Civil Nuclear Cooperation,” where Section “D 10 states that the P5+1 “and possibly other states are prepared to cooperate with Iran on the implementation of nuclear security guidelines and best practices. Cooperation in the following areas can be envisaged:

Co-operation in the form of training courses and workshops to strengthen Iran’s ability to prevent, protect and respond to nuclear security threats to nuclear facilities and systems as well as to enable effective and sustainable nuclear security and physical protection systems [boldface added];

Co-operation through training and workshops to strengthen Iran’s ability to protect against, and respond to nuclear security threats, including sabotage, as well as to enable effective and sustainable nuclear security and physical protection systems.

Emphasis should be placed on the word “respond.” It leaves open for interpretation the possibility that the United States and other P5 +1 countries can take action in the form of training and preparing Iran to stage a cyber attack or retaliation in the event of a third-party assault on Iran’s nuclear facilities.

Israel is assumed to have been behind the Stuxnet cyber attacks on Iran’s centrifuges at the Natanz nuclear facility in 2010, which set back the Iranian nuclear weapons program. The agreement provides for assistance from the United States and the other P5+1 countries to thwart “sabotage” on Iran’s nuclear sites.

Al Jazeera reported earlier this year that President Barack Obama threatened Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu in 2014 that he would order American fighter planes to down Israeli aircraft if the Israeli Air Force tried to carry out an attack, which reportedly was about to happen.

If (or when) it was discovered that Iran has cheated and is close to developing a nuclear weapon, the complicated review methods in the agreement could take several months or even a year before the United States and other P5+1 nations could prove their findings. In the meantime, Israel could be met by the United States as well as Iran as enemies in the event of an attempt to sabotage or attack the sites where Iran violated the agreement.

Even without the agreement, Iran is on the way to receiving from Russia, one of the P5+1 powers, S-300 anti-missile systems that could possibly deter any Israeli missile attack on Iranian nuclear sites, in which Russia has a heavy investment.

Prime Minister Netanyahu has argued that ObamaDeal not only does not prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon but actually paves the way for a nuclear-armed Islamic Republic.

But the agreement does more than that. It helps make Iran impervious to an attack, whether from the air or from cyber space, and ObamaDeal also ratifies a possible Iranian counter-attack on Israel

Netanyahu Answers Obama with Khamenei’s Words

Sunday, July 19th, 2015

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu used the Iranian leader’s own words Sunday morning to answer President Barack Obama’s claim that the nuclear agreement with Iran is the best option available.

The Prime Minister used the weekly Cabinet meeting as a platform for another offensive in the long-distance verbal battle with President Obama, who is trying to sell “ObamaDeal.’

One of the most directly opposite claims by both leaders concerns other options.

President Obama, joined on Friday by U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, argue that no one has suggested a better alternative, while Prime Minister Netanyahu reiterated Sunday:

The alternative to this failed agreement, which we proposed repeatedly, is the continuation and strengthening of the sanctions on Iran and conditioning the lifting of the restrictions on Iran’s nuclear program, and the lifting of the pressure on Iran, only if it changes its policy. As long as the Iranian leadership is encouraging calls of ‘Death to America’ and ‘Death to Israel’, there is no reason to make any concessions to them.

Obama has claimed that sanctions will be dropped by major countries even if an agreement were not reached. Kerry told PBS on Friday that “no alternative” has been offered and that Iran won’t be “crushed” by continuing sanctions “because we will lose the other people who are helping to provide those sanctions’

He added, “So, there is a lot of fantasy out there about this quote ‘better deal.'”

The Obama administration’s assumption that sanctions cannot continue is speculative, and no substantive claims have been made to support or deny the theory.

Netanyahu raised another objection to the deal, one that is proving much harder for President Obama to defend. Lifting sanctions will pump more than $150 billion into Iran’s bank accounts, and even President Obama admitted that “some” of the money will be used to fund Hezbollah and other terrorist fronts that are a direct threat to Israel.

Netanyahu said Sunday:

If someone thought that the extraordinary concessions to Iran would lead to a change in its policy, they received an unequivocal answer over the weekend in Iranian ruler Khamenei’s aggressive and contrary speech.

The Iranians aren’t even trying to hide the fact that they will use the hundreds of billions that they will receive under this agreement in order to arm their terror machine and they are clearly saying that they will continue their struggle against the US and its allies, first among them being Israel, of course.

Obama Lacks Public Support for Nuclear Deal with Iran

Sunday, July 19th, 2015

American opinion is totally skewed on the agreement. A plurality of 43 percent support the agreement, a strong majority of 59 percent is “not so confident” or “not confident at all” that the deal will prevent Iran from being armed with a nuclear weapon, and 64 percent lean toward favoring a military attack on Iran if it cheats on the deal.

Only 23% of Americans have some confidence that “ObamaDeal” will stop the Islamic Republic from getting its hands on a weapon, according to a YouGov poll.

The raw statistics appear to encourage the agreement’s Congressional opponents, who are in a political war against President Barack Obama’s hard-sell to thwart a veto-proof majority that could reject the agreement.

In President Obama’s favor is that domestic policy outranks the threat of a nuclear-armed Iran as a burning issue in the hearts and minds of Americans.

If there is one foreign policy that bothers Americans it is the Islamic State (ISIS). The sight of ISIS beheadings is enough shock some Americans to death, but the concept of Iran having a nuclear weapon is too far in the distant, both in terms of mileage and time, for it to frighten anyone.

Few Americans are old enough to remember Pearl Harbor, when Japan attacked Hawaii.

Meet the 16 Democratic Senators Who Can Scuttle ObamaDeal

Thursday, July 16th, 2015

Opponents to the agreement with Iran are lacking approximately nine Democratic senators to override a Presidential veto of its rejection, but the truth that is an opposition victory might have limited meaning.

Congress cannot strike down the agreement, which was made along with five other Western powers. All it can do is block President Obama’s agreement to lift U.S. sanctions.

Doing so would be very significant, both politically for President Obama and the Democratic party as well as for American’s relations with the other P5+1 countries and Iran.

There are seven undecided Democratic senators, according to a tally by the Washington Post’s Amber Phillips.

If all of them turn against President Obama, it will be easier to convince a couple of others whose positions are not yet known.

The seven undecided Democrats, acceding to Phillips, are:

Michael Bennet of Colorado;

Ben Cardin of Maryland;

Bob Casey of Pennsylvania;

Joe Donnelly of Indiana;

Tim Kaine of Virginia;

Bill Nelson of Pennsylvania;

and Mark Warner of Virginia.

Cardin is one of the most important of the undecided. He attends Baltimore’s largest and wealthiest modern Orthodox Beth Tfiloh Congregation, which is highly pro-Israel.

He told NPR this week:

Israel’s security issues are of major concern. We don’t want to see an arms race in the Middle East, so it is a factor. And it’s a factor that I’m sure we will carefully consider.

Earlier in the week, Cardin told Bloomberg:

There is no trust when it comes to Iran. In our deliberations we need to ensure the negotiations resulted in a comprehensive, long-lasting, and verifiable outcome that also provides for snap-back of sanctions should Iran deviate from its commitments.

The nine Democratic Senators whose positions are not known are:

Cory Booker of New Jersey;

Maria Cantwell of Washington;

Claire McCaskill of Missouri;

Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota’

Sen. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota;

Barbara Mikulski of Maryland;

Sen. Patty Murray of Washington;

Sen. Debbie Stabenow of Michigan; and

Sen. Jon Tester of Montana.

One of the most pivotal of the “unknowns” is McCaskill. She stated this week:

Preventing Iran from gaining a nuclear weapon is paramount to our national security, and if this agreement accomplishes that goal, it will make the world a safer place for America and our allies. I plan to spend the coming weeks taking a hard look at the agreement’s details to ensure that it will result in a verifiable way to prevent a nuclear-armed Iran.”

Phillip’s tally shows 43 senators “leaning” to vote against ObamaDeal, including New York Sen. Chuck Schumer, and only 26 are in favor or are leaning in favor.

Bush Labels Obama ‘Desperate'; Trump: Our Country’s Going to Hell

Wednesday, July 15th, 2015

Donald Trump, who remains at the top of the overstuffed heap of Republican presidential candidates, dumped all over President Barack Obama for the new agreement with Iran and said, “This country’s going to hell.”

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio were not much less harsh, with Bush comparing President Obama with Chamberlain’s appeasement to Hitler, while Rubio said the deal undermines America’s security.

The “ObamaDeal,” just like ObamaCare, is going to get a spanking in Congress but the President is counting on Democratic Senators to prevent a two-thirds veto-proof opposition to ObamaDeal.

Trump said what everyone in the Middle East knows. “The Persians are always great negotiators” and that’s why “they are laughing at us back in Iran,” he told CNN.

He noted that Iran is holding four Americans on charges of espionage and added:

Why couldn’t they make that part of the deal? It would have happened quickly — easily if you had the right messenger. And that should have actually happened earlier. That should have happened at the beginning of the negotiations….

I’ll be honest with you. I want to save the country. Our country’s going to hell. We have a problem. I want to make America great again.

Trump told NBC that President Obama “dealt from desperation,” and remarked, “You know the Iranians are going to cheat. They’re great negotiators and you know they’re going to cheat.

Bush compared President Obama with Chamberlain and said in a prepared statement:

This isn’t diplomacy – it is appeasement. The people of Iran, the region, Israel, America, and the world deserve better than a deal that consolidates the grip on power of the violent revolutionary clerics who rule Tehran with an iron fist.

Sen. Rubio stated, “Based on what we know thus far, I believe that this deal undermines our national security. President Obama has consistently negotiated from a position of weakness, giving concession after concession to a regime that has American blood on its hands, holds Americans hostage, and has consistently violated every agreement it ever signed.

He told Fox News:

For him [Obama], this whole deal, you know what it is? It is an exhibit in his presidential library.

On the Democratic side, Hillary Clinton called the ObamaDeal “an important step which puts a lid on Iran’s nuclear programs.” Vermont Sen. and underdog Bernie Sanders was more extreme and congratulated President Obama and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry for a “victory for diplomacy over saber-rattling [that] could keep the United States from being drawn into another never-ending war in the Middle East.”

Others argue just the opposite, that ObamaDeal makes war inevitable.

Rubio was quoted in The Washington Times as saying:

Look at the press coverage of this issue: Some of it’s been glowing as some sort of historic deal — it’s ridiculous.  A third-rate autocracy has now been given equality with a world power, with the United States of America.

They are now a nuclear threshold country on a deal signed with the United States and other global powers. That’s why they’re cheering in the streets [of] Tehran; that’s why they’re celebrating. You don’t see any celebrations in America. You don’t see any celebrations in Jerusalem or Tel Aviv, because they know this is a one-sided deal.

‘Stop Nuclear Iran’ Rally Next Wednesday at Times Square

Wednesday, July 15th, 2015

A mass rally that might attract tens of thousands of people is scheduled for next Wednesday 5:30 p.m. (EDT) at Times Square in New York City.

Police have planned for thousands of people to show up, but Tuesday’s agreement with Iran and the explosive opposition from Israel and the Jewish community in the United States is likely to draw much larger crowds.

The long-rage forecast is for temperatures in the 80s (Fahrenheit) and a 50 percent chance of scattered thunderstorms.

Speakers at the rally include:

Alan Dershowitz, Harvard Law Professor; John Batchelor, Radio Host WABC-AM; Caroline Glick, Deputy Managing Editor of the Jerusalem Post;

David Brog, Executive Director, Christians United for Israel; Steven Emerson, founder of The Investigative Project on Terrorism; Frank Gaffney, founder of the Center for Security Policy;

Kasim Hafeez, founder of “The Israel Campaign” and Christians United for Israel’s Outreach Coordinator; Pete Hoekstra, former U.S. Congressman and Chair of the House Intelligence Committee Tony LoBianco, “The French Connection” Actor and Activist;

Clare M. Lopez, former CIA officer, Terrorism and Iran Expert at Center for Security Policy; George Pataki, former three-term governor of New York and in office during 9/11; Allen West, former Congressman and retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel;

James Woolsey, former Director of the CIA and Chairman of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies; and Mortimer Zuckerman, chairman and editor-in-chief of U.S. News & World Report and the publisher of the New York Daily News and former Chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations.

The rally organizers have stated that their mission is:

— an end to the farce being perpetrated against the American people with a pending deal which will endanger           America and our allies;

— restoration of the ORIGINAL demands – NO nuclear military capability, NO centrifuges and authority for any and all unannounced inspections of all known and any future facilities discovered; and

–providing an understanding that a failure to STOP IRAN NOW will necessitate a military response later.
