Hundreds of Rabbis Support Ya’alon’s ‘Fed Up with Kerry’ Comments

Wednesday, January 15th, 2014

The Rabbinical Congress for Peace (RCP), comprising over 350 prominent Israeli rabbis, has sent a letter of support and encouragement to Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon for his clear and fearless remarks that “enough is enough.”

The rabbis assured him that the Torah supports those who “stand firm, speak the truth, and thereby lead to a true peace in Israel.”

“At long last there is a cabinet minister who demonstrated what true Jewish leadership is – a man who had the courage to advocate the truth that is stated  in the Code of Jewish Law (Orach Chaim, Section 329), that any withdrawal from Jewish territory leads to bloodshed,” the RCP stated. “As Minister Ya’alon put it, ‘Only our continued presence in Judea and Samaria and the Jordan Valley will ensure that Ben-Gurion Airport and Netanya don’t become targets for rockets from every direction.’”

“This simple truth has been proved over and over again is recent decades. Any concession or withdrawal has led to bloodshed and instability and has made daily life miserable.

One of the rabbis said that the fault does not lie with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry but rather with the Israel government,

“He took his cue from Israel’s continued weak-minded mottos, such as ‘Israel is prepared for painful concessions,’ and ‘Israel supports a two-state solution,’” said Rabbi Avrohom Shmuel Lewin, Executive Director of the RCP.

“If instead we already convinced him that he can gain from Israel’s continued painful concessions and withdrawals, why shouldn’t he continue to pressure Israel for even more concessions?” asked Rabbi Lewin.

Israel’s ‘Trophy’ Defense for APCs Passes Tough US Army Test

Tuesday, October 22nd, 2013

Israel’s “Trophy” defense system for General Dynamic’s LAV-III armored personnel has passed tough tests, including live fire under harsh terrain conditions in Canada, Israel Defense reported Tuesday.

The system withstood advanced anti-tank rocket fire, recoilless guns, short range fire and fire from different weapons simultaneously to verify the system’s functionality.

The Trophy system’s success in Israel has been proven on the IDF’s Merkava Mark IV tanks, which were deployed in Gaza during last year’s Pillar of Cloud counter-terrorist operation.

Snowden Leak: NSA Gave Israel Data on US Citizens

Wednesday, September 11th, 2013

The National Security Agency provides raw data to Israeli intelligence services, according to a secret document leaked by former NSA contractor Edward Snowden.

A memorandum of understanding between the NSA and the Israeli Signals Intelligence Unit (ISNU), leaked by Edward Snowden to the London Guardian, states that the NSA will provide data to the ISNU without first reviewing the documents to remove sensitive information.

The process of removing U.S. residents’ personal information is called “minimization.” According to the report, the information provided to Israeli intelligence could include phone and email records of U.S. citizens.

The leaked document states that the information “includes, but is not limited to, unevaluated and unminimized transcripts, gists, facsimiles, telex, voice and Digital Network Intelligence (DNI) metadata and content.”

Thursday, August 8th, 2013

Rep. Eric Cantor (R-Va.), the Republican majority leader in the House of Representatives, will lead 26 GOP lawmakers next week  on a tour of Israel funded by AIPAC’s educational affiliate.

The visit follows on the heels of a similar one this week for 37 Democratic lawmakers led by Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-Md.), the House Democratic whip. Such tours, funded by the American Israel Education Foundation, an affiliate of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, are held on off-election years and are geared to freshmen lawmakers.

Participants meet with Israeli and Palestinian leaders and tour congressionally funded facilities, including Israel’s anti-missile systems.
