FBI ‘Wanted’ Hezbollah Commander Killed in Syria

Wednesday, May 28th, 2014

A guerrilla commander in the Lebanese Hezbollah terrorist organization, an Iranian proxy group, was killed Monday in Syria fighting rebels for President Bashar al-Assad.

The death of Fawzi Ayoub in the southern Syrian town of Nawa, located in the province of Dera’a, was confirmed by the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

Ayoub is listed on the FBI’s “most wanted” list for attempting to carry out a bombing attack in Israel. A veteran of the Jewish State’s prison system, Ayoub spent four years in jail (2000-2004) before he was freed as part of an early-release deal for a prisoner swap, sources told the Al Arabiya website Tuesday.

Although he was a resident of the southern Lebanese village of Ein Qa’ana, Ayoub also held Canadian citizenship and lived in the United States as well.

Second Fire Bombing Arab Dies

Thursday, April 4th, 2013

An Arab teenager, Naji al-Balbisi, 18, died after being shot by Israeli forces during stone throwing and fire bombing clashes near Tulkarem, in Judea and Samaria, late Wednesday, Ma’an reported.

According to Ma’an, the IDF detained the body al-Balbisi for several hours, and then at 4 AM handed it over to the Red Crescent.

The teenager was the second to die after Israeli soldiers shot and killed a youth late Wednesday near a checkpoint in the Tulkarem area.

Soldiers in the area opened fire at Amer Nassar, 17, killing him instantly in response to Arab firebombing targeting a military post.

An Israeli army official said Arabs had attacked the post with firebombs.

“IDF soldiers responded by firing towards the attackers and identified a hit,” the IDF spokesperson stated, adding that “the circumstances are currently being reviewed.”

Close to a thousand people turned out on the streets of Tulkarem in the aftermath, according to Ma’an. Mourners carried the youth’s body as the crowd chanted slogans condemning the attack.

The incident came as clashes broke out in Judea and Samaria, especially in Hebron, between Israeli soldiers and Arabs protesting the death from cancer of a prisoner serving a life sentence in Israeli prison.

Maisara Abu Hamdiyeh was diagnosed with throat cancer and died after serving 10 years of his sentence, for attempted murder.

The Palestinian Authority has accused Israel of medical negligence, conveniently ignoring the fact that the prison service was in the process of approving an early release for Abu Hamdiyeh, on compassionate grounds.
