The Future of Diaspora Jews and Israelis Abroad
European Jewry is in trouble, says Yishai, but should all European Jews immigrate to Israel? Yishai is joined in-studio by Zvika Klein, Jewish World correspondent for the NRG news site and the Hebrew weekly Makor Rishon, to discuss the future of the Diaspora, in view of anti-Jewish legislation, such as the ban on circumcisions and kosher slaughter. Then, when the state of Israel was established, Israelis were discouraged from leaving -- so much so that they were not allowed to cast absentee ballots from abroad. That attitude has changed for many reasons, among them the large number of Israelis who leave the country to study and work. Should the law be adjusted to take this into account? Yishai is joined by Avinoam Bar-Yosef, president and founding director of the Jewish People Policy Planning Institute, and formerly the US bureau chief for the Hebrew daily Ma'ariv, to talk about this issue specifically and the state of the Jewish people in general.

Kashrut
Hashem gave the Jewish people the special privilege to keep kashrut. Kashrut is a decree that we just do because God commanded us to; we do not understand why we are doing it. When one keeps kashrut, he only eats pure, fit, and halachically permitted food. Even when one eats non-kosher food unintentionally, the non-kosher food becomes a part of a person and has harmful effects. Hashem is making us keep kashrut because He loves us; Hashem only wants the best for us and our health.

Kashrut/Yashrut: And The Alternative Solution Is…
It's a basic principle. When rejecting the proposed solution to a clear problem, give an alternative.
On May 3, Agudath Israel of America issued a statement critical of the soon-to-debut Magen Tzedek certification under Conservative auspices. Magen Tzedek's seal certifies adherence to high standards regarding labor, treatment of animals, safety, environmental concerns and corporate integrity in the products that bear its seal. The statement's basic point is valid; its failure to concede the problem and to offer an alternative solution is not.
