Orlando Mass Murderer Pledged Allegiance to ISIS [video]

Sunday, June 12th, 2016

Mass murderer Omar Mateen, 29, who killed 50 people and wounded 53 people in the Pulse gay nightclub in Orlando, Fl., called 911 just before he started the shooting, to pledge his allegiance to the ISIS Caliph, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, NBC News reported. Mateen also reminded the 911 operator of the Tsarnaev brothers from the Boston Marathon bombing, according to CBS News.

California congressman Adam Schiff, the top Democrat on the House Select Committee on Intelligence, told CNN: “What I’ve heard from the Department of Homeland Security this morning is that, according to local police, he made a pledge of allegiance to ISIS.” Schiff also said the shooting was “highly indicative of an ISIL-inspired attack,” and that the shooter “was heard praying in a foreign language and I don’t know if this was at some point during the course of the shooting but that’s what I’m hearing, obviously second-hand, coming ultimately from local police.”

According to media reports citing the FBI, the gunman, the son of Afghan parents, opened fire on the dance floor of the Pulse night club early Sunday morning. At least 50 people were killed and 53 others were injured in the shooting. According to President Obama, who delivered a 10-minute message around 2 PM EDT, this was the deadliest mass shooting in US history. According to a surgeon at Orlando Regional Medical Center who spoke to the media, the death toll will likely be higher. The FBI is investigating the shooting as an act of terrorism, and the agency is looking into whether this was an act of domestic or international terror, and if the shooter was a lone wolf.

As of Sunday afternoon, ISIS has yet to claim credit for the attack, and the FBI suspects it was probably ISIS-inspired, like the San Bernardino shooting, and not ISIS-planned, like the attacks in Europe.

Channel 9 news in Orlando last April broadcast a video uncovered by a group called The United West, of Sheikh Farrokh Sekaleshfar, who in 2013 spoke at the Husseini Islamic Center in Sanford, FL, calling for the death of all homosexuals in the spirit of the tenets of the Shariah Islamiyya, or Islamic Law. He said, “Death is the sentence. We know there’s nothing to be embarrassed about this, death is the sentence… We have to have that compassion for people, with homosexuals, it’s the same, out of compassion, let’s get rid of them now.”

Egyptian President El-Sisi Appears at Coptic Mass

Wednesday, January 7th, 2015

For the first time ever, Coptic Christians in Egypt were able to greet the president of their country on the most important holiday of their faith.

President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi is the first Egyptian leader ever to attend Christmas mass at Cairo’s Abbasiya Cathedral, where he greeted Coptic Christians in a speech.

Sisi’s attendance at the religious service was preceded by a heavy security presence, especially due to prior attacks on Christian sites by radical Islamists.

The president congratulated Egypt’s Coptic community on the occasion of the holiday, and maintained that all Egyptians are as “one hand.”

Pope Francis will make his first official visit to Israel for only 48 hours in late May, Israel media reported Thursday.

The trip is scheduled for May 25-26 and the pope reportedly will conduct mass only in Bethlehem, in the Palestinian Authority, and not in Jerusalem. He probably will probably visit the Yad Vashem Holocaust

The Vatican did not confirm or deny the report, and is spokesman Father Federico Lombardi told the French news agency AFP, “It is in the first instance up to the pope himself to decide upon and to announce such a visit.” He admitted that official have made a preparatory visit to Israel last week.

ADL Makes Conflicting Statements on Anti-Israel Texts

Sunday, December 1st, 2013

Anti-Defamation League (ADL) officials made conflicting statements on the existence of a report by the organization about allegations of anti-Israel teaching materials in the public school curriculum of Newton, Mass.

Americans for Peace and Tolerance (APT) recently took out an advertisement in Boston-area newspapers that highlighted research by concerned parents and students on anti-Israel texts that have appeared in Newton schools. The texts mentioned in the ad include “The Arab World Studies Notebook,” which claims that Israeli soldiers murdered hundreds of Palestinian nurses in Israeli prisons; “A Muslim Primer,” which claims that astronaut Neil Armstrong converted to Islam; “Flashpoints: Guide to World History,” which asserts that Tel Aviv, not Jerusalem, is the capital of Israel, and that Jerusalem is the capital of “Palestine”; and other materials.

Leaders from the ADL, the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC), and Combined Jewish Philanthropies (Boston’s Jewish federation) said in a Nov. 6 statement that “based on a careful review of the materials at issue by ADL and JCRC, there is substantial reason to believe that the allegations made in the [APT] ad are without merit.” The ADL, however, is refusing to make its findings on the teaching materials public, The Jewish Advocate of Boston reported in its Nov. 29 edition.

Furthermore, ADL officials contradicted themselves on the existence of an ADL report on Newton schools. ADL New England Regional Director Robert Trestan told The Jewish Advocate that a report of the ADL’s investigation does not exist, while ADL New England Region Board Chair Jeffrey Robbins said, “It’s an internal report. People do this stuff internally all the time. … It involves all kinds of proprietary research.”

“We don’t know if the ADL secured the curriculum from the Newton school committee in order to conclude, as they do, that there are no problems,” APT President Charles Jacobs told JNS.org. “They have not shared their ‘careful review’ of our ad with anyone, including reporters, calling it ‘proprietary.’ They seem to have had a greater urgency in defending school officials and the mayor than in getting the facts from parents and students. This is clearly not the quality effort we would expect from a well-funded organization with vast local and national resources. Disappointing.”
