Exclusive: German Source Warns Jews in Danger as Anti-Migrant Movement Grows Violent

Monday, February 22nd, 2016

German Jewry is beginning to worry about anti-Semitism again, and according to a local source, it’s long past due time that they did.

In an exclusive interview with a peace activist from Germany, JewishPress.com learned this week that the threat to Jews in the country is rising steadily.

Right-wing extremists and neo-Nazi groups are increasing in popularity, albeit with their initial banner raised against the flood of refugees and migrants streaming into Germany from across Europe.

The activist, a German visitor to Israel, told JewishPress.com on condition of anonymity – is that a backlash is beginning among the German population which is starting to blame its “migrant population” on “the Jews.”

It has taken a while, but Joseph Schuster, president of the country’s Central Council of Jews also expressed the community’s concern in an interview published Saturday in the Sueddeutsche Zetung.

“The political mood in our society is clearly drifting off to the right,” Schuster told the newspaper, noting rising tensions over the steady flow of migrants into the country. Although Schuster told the paper he does not believe the Jews will immediately leave en masse, he did warn that many will “consider” it.

“It must be clear to the people that come to us that anti-Semitic behavior will not be tolerated,” Schuster said. He called on the government to teach the migrants – most of whom are Muslims – to recognize the State of Israel in their cultural integration courses “because among the refugees is a significant proportion of Arab people who have grown up with anti-Jewish and anti-Israel stereotypes.”

While it is true that many attacks on Jews in Europe over the past several years have been traced to Muslim immigrants, that has by no means ever been the source of anti-Semitism on the continent. Adolf Hitler was Austrian, not Syrian. Let’s not confuse the two.

According to the German source there have been weekly anti-migrant demonstrations by German native-born citizens in Leipzig for months already. On the secular New Year, when parties were going “full blast” the central downtown area was “empty, spooky, with no police coverage whatsoever because all the police were out dealing with attacks.

This New Year’s Eve, gangs of young migrant men sexually assaulted countless young women in mass attacks in Cologne and other German towns, according to France24 and myriad other international media. Last year Germany absorbed 1.1 million migrants and the nation’s citizens are reportedly livid with Chancellor Angela Merkel’s open door policy for the refugees.

“That night saw hundreds of assaults – it was the first time the media could not hide the facts about migrant violence and German violence in response,” the source said.

Riots were also been carried out by an extremist group known to international police as the neo-Nazi “football hooligans.” The group has branches throughout Europe – in Sweden as well as in Germany.

In Leipzig two weeks later they seized the opportunity to start a rampage during a march by supporters of the anti-migrant Pegida movement (Patriotic Europeans Against the Islamization of the West.) The local Pegida group in Leipzig is known as Legida.

“Merkel take your Muslims with you and go,” read one of the placards at a Legida protest.

Also in January, at least 250 neo-Nazis traveled by car to the Leipzig suburb of Connewitz from “all over the state of Saxony,” according to the World Socialist Web Site, which described a scene of “fascist terror.”

According to a report posted by the Peipziger Volkszeitung (LVZ), the “horde of neo-Nazis” were “goose-stepping” through the district and then began a “rampage of violence” with large stones they had clearly brought with them.

Washington State Synagogue Statue Defaced with Swastika

Friday, December 25th, 2015

Vandals spray-painted a swastika on a statue outside an Olympia, Washington synagogue, and an anti-Semite punched an Orthodox Jewish student in the face in two high-profile hate attacks in the United States this week.

The college student was treated on the scene, with the help of a Muslim woman student. The attacker fled.

The statue in Washington stands outside Olympia’s Temple Beth HaTfiloh.

Seth Goldstein, the temple’s spiritual leader wrote in a blog post:

A swastika is not mere vandalism — it is a symbol of hatred with deep resonance with Jews and shakes us to our core, especially in a community in which we are constantly reminded of our minority status.

The incident at Brooklyn’s Medgar Evers College occurred when an unidentified black man bumped into an Orthodox Jewish student from behind. When the student turned around, the attacker punched him twice in the face and stomach while snarling at him for being “white and Jewish.”

College President Rudy Crew seemed to be thrilled at the chance to be politically correct and boast how a Muslim helped an Orthodox Jew.

He said:

The fact that a Muslim woman came to the defense of an orthodox Jewish man is a true reflection of the values that permeate this great institution.

Is it really such a tremendous event in the United States when a Muslim helps a Jew?

Canadian Synagogue Invites Muslims in after Mosque Firebombed

Sunday, November 29th, 2015

(JNi.media) The Beth Israel synagogue in Peterborough, Central Ontario, Canada, invited Muslim worshipers at the Masjid al-Salaam mosque to pray in their building, after it had been firebombed on Nov. 14 by arsonists, Canadian media reported. The damage to the mosque was estimated at $80 thousand.

On Saturday night, the synagogue’s website published an announcement stating, “Yesterday, Friday November 27, Beth Israel became a house of worship for the local Muslim community.” On Friday, Beth Israel hosted two prayer sessions for local Muslims and a potluck dinner.

Beth Israel Synagogue president Larry Gillman told CBC, “As Canadians we have to stick together. It’s not about religion, it’s not about race. Canadians do this.” According to CBC, as soon as Gillman heard about the fire at the mosque, he reached out to his synagogue’s board of directors to find out about sharing space with the Muslim congregation. They voted unanimously in favor. “I hope this can be some kind of small example to others,” Gillman said.

Kenzu Abdella, the president of the Kawartha Muslim Religious Association, told CBC, “In the beginning, it was a shock. Within 24 hours, that changed. They walked to the mosque and told us that whatever we need, they will support us. Even though it came out of a tragedy, we are working together.”

The invitation to the synagogue was the first meeting between Abdella and Gillman. Since then, Gillman has given a speech at the Muslim Institute of Toronto and his synagogue has become part of an interfaith group working to sponsor Syrian refugees to come to Canada.

“We have more similarities than differences,” Abdella told CBC. “We have so much in common — the details of worship and the ceremonies. Even the stories we hear are similar. At the end of the day, it’s a house of God.”

Fear of Muslim Hate Scaring US Jewish Leaders from Pro-Israel Rallies

Sunday, November 22nd, 2015

In a growing number of U.S. towns, Jews whose hearts ache over the terror faced by Israel and who are desperate to express their support, are starting to fear Arab hatred and the terror of radical Islam even more.

JewishPress.com has been asked to tell this story by an American rabbi who provided the information on condition that all identifying details be omitted “for the safety of those involved.” In particular, he requested that the location of the congregations involved be “blurred,” as he put it, in order “not to put Jews at risk.”

How scary is that?

“One of my congregants spoke to a friend whose son lives in a major Midwestern city where they had an Israel rally. They were greatly outnumbered by Palestinians,” he said. “That woman’s son called it a big disaster because it turned out to be great PR for the Palestinians, instead of support for Israel.”

As a matter of fact, the city in question had “10,000 Muslims show up to their rally,” according to the city police estimate.

Concerned rabbis who followed up raised the following question: “Without advertisement, we have no way to let those concerned citizens express their solidarity. With advertisement, how do we prevent this kind of fiasco?”

The rabbis also receive updates and security assessments from the Department of Homeland Security, which to its credit maintains contact with countless Jewish leaders and institutions.

“Clearly, I can’t give you a simple ‘it’s safe’ or not,” wrote one DHS official to the inquiring rabbi who asked during the summer of 2014 about the wisdom of joining a solidarity march for Israel.

“But, given the current situation in Gaza, it’s my opinion if the march was widely publicized prior to holding it, I wouldn’t be comfortable at all. If the group simply shows up, marches and departs, the risk would be much lower. As you know, there’s always a risk,” he wrote, adding that if the march is publicized “during or after, you also raise risk on existing Jewish facilities from retaliatory attacks.”

And that quiet warning was officially being transmitted more than a year ago, not in Europe, the Middle East or Scandinavia, but rather in the United States!

Below is a letter received by the same rabbi, who is among those who encourage their congregations to attend demonstrations of support for Israel. Note the emphasis on safety.

Dear Rabbi X:
As you know, these are tough times for our beloved Israel.
The Friends of Israel is having a public rally this Sunday, ______ , in the afternoon at the corner of _______________.
As you also may know at many other Israel rallies, scores of confrontational Palestinians have shown up, intimidated and stolen the PR. It becomes their hate fest instead of our peaceful rally in support of Israel’s right to self defense.
Will you please send this flyer out to your email contacts, call people and urge them to attend. Please speak about the rally at Shabbat services. Put this on Facebook, tweet, etc.
This is the time for all those who love and support Israel to come together; it is our responsibility!! Please do what you can to mobilize people. Even though people may only see Palestinian suffering, which ultimately Hamas has caused, on the news, we all know Israelis are suffering and being terrorized. My own family and several other friends have terrible stories.
We have a permit and police protection. This should be the safest place to be in _________ from ________ on Sunday! Thank you in advance for your support.

Survey: 55% – 73% of White Christian Americans Reject Muslim Values

Thursday, November 19th, 2015

(JNi.media) The new Public Religion Research Institute poll, aptly titled “Anxiety, Nostalgia, and Mistrust: Findings from the 2015 American Values Survey,” released Tuesday, points out that a majority of American Christians believe Muslim values are at odds with American values and way of life.

Perceptions of Islam have turned more negative over the past few years. Today, 56% of Americans agree that the values of Islam are at odds with American values and way of life, while 41% disagree. Opinion on Islam’s compatibility with American values varies greatly by religious beliefs. 73% of white evangelical Protestants believe Islam is at odds with American values, compared with 63% of white mainline Protestants, 55% of black Protestants, 61% of Catholics and 41% of the religiously unaffiliated. In 2011, Americans were still about evenly divided in their views of Islam: 47% agreed, 48% disagreed it was at odds with American values.

With less than one year to go until the 2016 general election, the mood of the American people is marked by anxiety and mistrust, concludes the PRRI poll: more than 72% believe that the country is still in a recession, as they did in 2014. Americans are divided down the middle, 49-49% on whether America’s best days are ahead of us or behind them. They are pessimistic and anxious about crime, racial tensions, and immigration.

And they don’t trust Muslims. More than 60% of white Protestants and Catholics, 55% of African-American Protestants, and 56% of Americans overall see a split between American and Muslim values, up from 47% in 2011 and 2014.

The nonpartisan Public Religion Research Institute (PRRI) conducted the 2015 American Values Survey among 2,695 Americans between September 11 and October 4, 2015. It measures public opinion about the economy, racial discrimination, the criminal justice system, trust in public institutions, perception of the Tea Party, the relationship between religious affiliation and political attitudes, views of immigrants, and how demographic changes impact the cultural landscape in the country.

Compared with a few years ago, Americans report less tolerance when encountering non-English speaking immigrants. 48% of Americans say they are bothered when they come into contact with immigrants who speak little or no English, compared with 40% in 2012. 63% of white working-class Americans say they feel bothered when they come into contact with immigrants who do not speak English, compared with 43% of white college-educated Americans.

73% of Donald Trump’s supporters say they are bothered by encounters with immigrants who speak little English. 69% of Trump supporters rate immigration as a critical issue to them personally, compared with only 50% of supporters of other Republican candidates.

The survey Interviews were conducted in English and Spanish between September 11 and October 4, 2015 among a random sample of 2,695 U.S. adults (age 18 and up). Interviews were conducted both online and by telephone. The margin of error for the survey is +/- 2.6% at the 95% level of confidence.

Brooklyn Muslim Community Leader Prays God ‘Take ISIS off the Earth’

Tuesday, November 17th, 2015

(JNi.media) Mohammad Razvi, a Brooklyn businessman who, after 9/11, gave up much of his business to become an advocate for Muslim Americans, is the kind of Muslim everybody talks about when they argue Islam is not crazy and bloodthirsty, only large groups of jihadists are.

In Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, on Sunday night, on the same weekend as the bloody Paris attacks, faith leaders of all stripes gathered to prayed for peace in English, Hebrew, Arabic and French, PRI reported. And, in this group, it was Muslim community leader Mohammad Razvi who had the harshest things to say against the ISIS murderers. And while public officials and clerics called for unity and tolerance, Razvi, a descendant of Pakistani immigrants, said: “We pray to God for justice and for these individuals to be taken off this Earth. If it’s going to take our communities coming together and our governments to come together internationally, so be it. We look forward — because the red, white and blue are coming to get you!”

Razvi insists his views about ISIS are based in his faith. In his opinion, they “have nothing to do with Islam.” Citing the Prophet Mohammed (in text that’s reminiscent of the teachings of the Jewish sages), he said, “If they hurt one human person, it’s as if they are hurting all of humanity. If you help one human being, it’s as if you’re helping the whole humanity. It doesn’t matter what culture or what religion they’re from.”

Mohammad Razvi, who received the FBI 2012 Director’s Community Leadership Award, used to run a small empire of family-owned stores in Little Pakistan, Brooklyn, NPR reported in 2006. But after the 9/11 attacks he left the business to become a community activist. He told NPR that his life had changed dramatically. For one thing, his paycheck is not what it used to be. But Razvi has no regrets.

How to Stop the Arab Violence on the Temple Mount

Tuesday, September 15th, 2015

Prime Minister Netanyahu is overthinking the problem.

There is ongoing Arab violence on the Temple Mount.

– The Arabs are harassing visitors to the Temple Mount.
– The Arabs are attacking visitors to the Temple Mount.
– The Arabs are attacking police on the Temple Mount.
– The Arabs are rioting on the Temple Mount.
– The Arabs are preparing bombs on the Temple Mount.

I’m not sure what other options Netanyahu is considering, since there’s really only one solution that’s guaranteed to work.

No Arabs, no violence.

The logic is simple…

Arabs are no longer welcome or allowed onto the Temple Mount. Period.

The Israeli police have no problem preventing Jews from going up. It’s time they now are forced to address the real source of the problem.

The results will be…

– No Arabs on the Temple Mount, no one on the Temple Mount gets harassed.
– No Arabs on the Temple Mount, no one on the Temple Mount gets attacked.
– No Arabs on the Temple Mount, no riots on the Temple Mount.
– No Arabs on the Temple Mount, no bombs on the Temple Mount.

Is Bibi afraid the Arabs in the Old City will get violent in response?

Well then Netanyahu is overthinking the problem, since there’s really only one solution that’s guaranteed to work…
