Israeli Police Officer Injured in Stoning Attack, Egged Bus Firebombed

An Israeli police officer was hurt on Tuesday in an Arab stoning attack in the northern Jerusalem neighborhood of Dahiyat al-Barid, on the outskirts of the capital. The Hatzolah emergency response service of Judea and Samaria reported that the police officer was treated for a minor leg wound.

Earlier in the day, an Arab terrorist hurled a firebomb at Egged Bus #140 as it traveled in Samaria between the Arab village of Hizme and the Jewish community of Adam, northwest of Jerusalem.

A passenger on the bus told the Hebrew-language 0404 website, “The firebomb (Molotov cocktail) was hurled … at the bus as it passed the Adam junction, but it didn’t do any damage.” The firebomb did, however, ignite a fire in the shrubbery at the side of the road. Firefighters extinguished the flames at the site.

A few hours later Arab terrorists attacked another bus at the same spot with a “paint bottle” – a bottle filled with thick, colored paint, intended to blind the driver as it shatters on impact, spreading a mess on the vehicle’s windows.

This time the attack failed: the terrorist’s aim was bad, and the bottle landed instead on the road, exploding its colorful contents on the highway instead.

Serious Chemical Spill on Main Road in Jerusalem’s Pisgat Ze’ev Neighborhood

An industrial truck leaking dangerous chemicals was stopped Tuesday morning on the main road in the northern Jerusalem neighborhood of Pisgat Ze’ev.

The chemicals, used as a disinfectant in the poultry industry, were leaking on to Moshe Dayan Boulevard. The neighborhood is home to 50,000 residents, making Pisgat Ze’ev larger than some cities in Israel.

People living in the area were instructed to stay home and turn off air conditioners while Jerusalem Fire and Rescue Services personnel contained and cleaned up the spill. Local Jerusalem Light Rail and Israel Railways train service in the area was temporarily suspended.

Some people reportedly suffered from burning eyes and vomiting as a result of the spill. it is not clear what caused the accident.

Arab Terrorists Open Fire at Qalandiya Checkpoint

Arab terrorists opened fire Tuesday morning at IDF personnel at the Qalandiya checkpoint north of Jerusalem.

The attack took place during a visit to the outpost by a security team from Cyprus.

No injuries were reported. However, a bullet hit one of the military vehicles, according to the Hebrew-language 0404 website.

Israeli forces searched the area and raised the alert level. It appears the attack came from within Qalandiya.

Jerusalem Light Rail Under Arab Attack – Again!

The Jerusalem intifada aimed at the capital city’s Light Rail on Saturday night with five separate attacks as the train passed through the Arab Shuafat neighborhood.

Arab attackers hurled rocks at the passenger cars in a blatant attempt to wreck the commuter line, with the light rail repeatedly coming under a hail of stones while making its way through northern Jerusalem.

Each attack began as the train passed through Shuafat; the same Arab neighborhood where three of the light rail’s stops were utterly demolished, right down to the infrastructure, at the start of Operation Protective Edge in early July.

In four out of five of the attacks, passenger cars sustained thousands of shekels’ worth of damage, with windows smashed each time.

None of the passengers were physically injured, although some were traumatized.

In four attacks no arrests were made, but in one case security forces on the train managed to arrest some of those who were throwing the rocks.

More than 100 attacks on the train have been reported since three Israeli teens were abducted and murdered in Gush Etzion by Hamas terrorists in June. An Arab teen from Shuafat was likewise kidnapped and murdered in what appeared to be a revenge killing by Jewish extremists the day after the bodies of the Jewish teenage victims were found.

In the past two months Arab attackers have caused approximately half a million shekels’ damage to the Jerusalem Light Rail as it passes through Shuafat and nearby Beit Hanina, according to the CityPass company that owns the rail line.

Jerusalem Intifada Reaches French Hill

Sunday night (Sept. 7) saw another round of intifada violence in Jerusalem as screaming hordes of Arabs went on rampages in various parts of the city — one gang destroying a gas station, others hurling rocks and ambushing motorists traveling around the capital.

Dozens of Arab rioters torched a “Menta” gasoline station in the northern Jerusalem neighborhood of French Hill late in the evening. Miraculously, no one was physically injured in the melee, which completely destroyed the station in the quiet neighborhood. “I was lucky to get out of there alive,” the counter man told an interviewer on Army Radio. “Thank God no one else was in the store at the time.”

Some 40 screaming, rioting Arabs yelling “Allahu Akbar!” (God is Great) hurled rocks and smashed everything in sight. The little convenience store at the gas station was also badly damaged.

According to a report on Voice of Israel public radio, no arrests were made.

Jerusalem activist Aryeh King asked in a post on the Twitter social media website, “Where were the police?”

Masked terrorists also hurled rocks – again – at the Jerusalem Light Rail as it passed through the nearby neighborhood of Shuafat. No one was physically injured, although passengers were traumatized. Miraculously, none of the cars were damaged this time.

The CityPass company managing the line has been threatening to cut off service to the northern neighborhoods in the capital. Thus far the firm has kept the line going as a courtesy to the innocent commuters and students living in Beit Hanina, Pisgat Ze’ev, Neve Ya’akov and other neighborhoods. But the train is losing more passenger cars each day to the violence, and the line is rapidly becoming a losing enterprise as a result. More than a third of the Light Rail cars have been forced out of service, damaged by rioting Arabs.

Also on Sunday night, Israeli motorists and police found themselves dodging road terror attacks as Arabs hurled rocks along the roads in Issawiya and A-Tur. Both are suburbs of Jerusalem, along the northeastern outskirts. Two drivers were wounded in these attacks; both are in good condition. But just a few weeks ago, a Hebron Hills driver was left in critical condition from a similar attack. In September 2011, a Kiryat Arba father and his baby son were murdered in such an ambush.

Israeli media have linked Sunday’s violence to the death of an Arab teenager who died of wounds sustained a week earlier while rioting elsewhere in the capital. The teen was allegedly shot by Israeli police who were faced by a screaming mob of Arabs out for their blood, hurling rocks and firebombs (Molotov cocktails).

Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat meanwhile has condemned the rioting and told reporters he was in contact with police officials. He called for a “heavy handed response” and pledged the assistance of city hall as necessary.

But regardless of this week’s pretext for the violence, the rising number of incidents and the escalating level of violence by Arabs in Jerusalem and elsewhere in Israel is just not okay.

It’s unacceptable behavior. Tragedy cannot be an excuse for mass rage. Twice so far the Arabs have used it as a pretext to trigger a nationwide intifada in this country.

Extremist, radical Islamists also used the same excuse to launch mass violence around the world, pretending it had something to do with their faith — which it doesn’t, and never did. It was simply a pretext to quench the extremist Islamist thirst for blood.

The Islamic State is doing the same thing right now.

Any hesitation on Israel’s part, any delay in an unequivocal, concrete response sends a message to local Arab thugs, their provocateurs, the Arab political leadership and the international community beyond that such violence can and will be tolerated in Israel.

This is truly dangerous to all Israeli citizens — here and abroad.

4 Terror Attacks in 12 Hrs – Jerusalem Light Rail to Avoid Shuafat

Security officials have decided enough is enough: four terror attacks on the Jerusalem Light Rail in 12 hours has ended the route through the capital’s northern neighborhood of Shuafat, at least for now.

Jerusalem Arab terrorists hurled firebombs and rocks at the Jerusalem Light Rail in two separate attacks in less than an hour on Monday night as the train passed through the capital’s Arab neighborhood of Shuafat. Two other attacks occurred earlier in the day.

Passengers instinctively ducked, and mothers with babies threw themselves down on to the floor of the train, some of them bursting into tears, according to witnesses quoted by the Hebrew-language 0404 website.

Miraculously, no one on the train was physically injured, although passengers were traumatized and the train itself was damaged in each of the attacks.

One of the passengers in the second attack of the day told 0404, “Suddenly the train was hit by two flaming firebombs… there was great panic and mothers laid down with their babies on the floor of the train. It is absolutely surreal, what we are going through here. Just unbelievable.”

The website noted that three masked Arab terrorists  hurled rocks at another Light Rail train during the first attack of the day.

Depending on size, the CityPass firm that runs the Light Rail must pay NIS 3,000 to NIS 5,000 to replace each window smashed by terrorists hurling rocks and firebombs at the train. Insurance does not cover the cost of replacing equipment damaged in terrorist attacks.

Arab rioters in Shuafat completely destroyed the infrastructure three Jerusalem Light Rail stations in the area at the start of Operation Protective Edge, preventing the train from passing through the neighborhood for a number of days. As it did then, the line will operate — at least temporarily — between Mount Herzl and Ammunition Hill, with the route ending at Ammunition Hill.

The northern Jerusalem neighborhoods of Shuafat, Beit Hanina, Pisgat Ze’ev and Neve Yaakov will thus be deprived of service due to Arab terrorism in Shuafat.  Jews live in at least two of the four neighborhoods, with a Jewish section recently having started in a third neighborhood as well.

Jerusalem Light Rail Service to Shuafat Already Restored

The CityPass Jerusalem Light Rail service has already been restored to Shuafat, despite the best efforts of local Arabs — and their declared public vow — that it would ‘never’ run in the neighborhood again.

Following the murder of 16 year old Muhhamad Abu Khdeir, Jerusalem Arabs went on an extended rampage, with three of the Light Rail stops being the first target of their rage. But it turns out the CityPass Jerusalem Light Rail service wasn’t just trashed by rioters in the Arab Shuafat neighborhood, it was systematically destroyed.

Arab teams came in with jack hammers to reach the copper cable wire running by the tracks while other teams came with equipment to saw off massive electric poles as others brought in trucks to pour cement on tracks while fuel was poured on the tracks to burn off the rubber elements.

Discussion groups on the Internet speculated that it would take up to a year to restore service and that the service would run next to Shuafat rather than through the middle of the neighborhood.

Why the systematic destruction? One veteran Israeli reporter told the Independent Media Review & Analysis (IMRA) that Fatah was behind the move as they control the taxi service from Shuafat to the rest of the city and destroying the light rail was a move to restore a major source of income.

But it didn’t take a year to restore service.

This Sunday CityPass was already running their trains per the regular schedule.

CityPass COO Shay Eisenberg told IMRA that while the service is up and running there is a lot of work yet to be completed. Since the traffic lights in the neighborhood and communications were destroyed, the train “has to cross intersections like a car without a traffic light”. The two stations in Shuafat were completely destroyed so passengers board in a makeshift arrangement.

Based on what Eisenberg says, it appears that Fatah’s coffers are not going to benefit from their assault on Jerusalem light rail services.
