Arab Sources: State Dept Again Pressuring Israel to Restart Talks

Monday, September 1st, 2014

U.S. Secretary of State of John Kerry has again begun to ‘remind’ Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu that it’s time to restart the final status talks with Palestinian Authority leaders.

Kerry allegedly phoned Netanyahu over the matter, adding a suggestion that Israel consider releasing that fourth group of terrorist prisoners that were held back from the final tranche that was canceled when the previous set of talks crashed and burned.

But Israel’s prime minister didn’t see things the same way, according to a report in the London-based Al Quds al-Araby – prompting Kerry to cancel his scheduled visit to Israel next week.

It is worth mentioning at this point that such reports are often best viewed with at least a large tablespoon of salt.

A source quoted in the Palestinian Authority also told the newspaper that a PA delegation to include chief PA negotiator Saeb Erekat and intelligence head Majid Faraj said they would travel to Washington tomorrow (Tuesday) to meet instead with Kerry there, and present a new initiative.

Another PA delegation headed by PLO official Mustafa Barghouti is set to arrive today (Monday, Sept. 1) in Cairo as well. There, too, discussions will include – in addition to the follow-up to cease-fire arrangements with Gaza – the issue of restarting talks between Israel and the Palestinian Authority.

It’s the same PA officials who plan to charge Israel with war crimes and violations of international human rights laws.

(Allegedly the PA has said they are planning to “delay” their applications to the UN Security Council and other international commission, IF an agreement is reached within four months.)

It’s also the same PA unity government that includes the Hamas terrorists who kidnapped three Israeli teens and murdered them in Gush Etzion on June 12.

The same PA government that is led by the Fatah faction, which includes the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades terrorist wing – which participated in the firing of rockets, missiles and mortars at Israel from Gaza.

The same PA government that has reneged on every agreement and backed out of every negotiation deal it has ever made with Israel.

The same PA government that has never managed to meet even the most basic obligations about working towards a ‘language of peace’ it agreed to under the Oslo Accords that established its existence as an entity in the first place.

The countless publications of the Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) organization, which monitors PA media publications and broadcasts make it clear there have been no changes whatsoever in the glorification of terror at the government level from Ramallah. So how does Mahmoud Abbas differ from Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal?

Simple. He wages war with words, encourages terror at the diplomatic and educational level.

It’s the most dangerous terrorism of all, and the United States and Europe both fund his efforts, full throttle.

Turkey Promises Housing Aid to Gaza

Sunday, August 10th, 2014

Turkey has promised to send 3,000 new pre-fabricated houses to Gaza, although it is not clear how or when they will be delivered.

The announcement was made by Palestinian Authority unity government Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah, who was quoted by Voice of Israel public radio. The houses, which are easy to assemble, are intended to replace those destroyed in air strikes by Israeli fighter jets aiming at concealed rocket launchers and weapons storage sites.

The PA unity government prime minister said an international donor conference may also meet in Oslo on September 5 to discuss the issue of rebuilding Gaza.

Islamic Jihad Commander Killed in Northern Gaza

Wednesday, July 9th, 2014

One of the commanders of the Islamic Jihad military wing was killed Tuesday night in an IAF air strike in the northern Gaza town of Beit Hanoun. Local sources reported that five members of his family were also casualties in the attack.

Encouraging one’s family to remain in a war zone and to act as human shields comes in accordance with standard Gaza terrorist policy. It is also the result of the constant incitement and psychological conditioning that Palestinian Authority residents are subjected to from birth to the grave via all their media outlets — including those controlled by the Western-backed so-called ‘peace partner’ and Fatah leader Mahmoud Abbas, whose nom de guerre is Abu Mazen.

Abbas, who signed a unity pact with Hamas in May, has yet to denounce the agreement despite ample evidence — and stated intent — of the terrorist group’s goal of annihilating the State of Israel. The United States continues to endorse the Palestinian Authority unity government (PUG) but denies Hamas is a participant in that government, despite numerous photos documenting its membership.

Operation ‘Brother’s Keeper’ #11: 37 Arrests, 80 Sites Checked, 7 Hamas Closures

Monday, June 23rd, 2014

It’s the 11th day of Operation Brother’s Keeper, since 19 year old Eyal Yifrach, 16 year old Naftali Frenkel and 16 year old Gilad Sha’ar were kidnapped by Arab terrorists.

Thousands of soldiers are out around the clock, searching for the kidnapped boys and putting pressure on the terror organization behind the abduction, Hamas. But they haven’t found them yet. Terrorism experts have assured journalists that the boys are “still alive… That’s the working assumption.”

Sunday night and the wee hours of Monday morning were spent hunting down and arresting 37 Palestinian Authority unity government fugitives in Hevron, El Aroub, Shechem, Tulkarem and Jenin. The process was not an easy one: each came at the cost of violent encounters with rioters as the IDF soldiers came to take the terrorists into custody. Since the operation began, more than 360 terrorists have been taken into custody — most of them members of Hamas.

Seven organizations linked to Hamas in various locations around Hevron and in Jenin were shut down, and eighty separate sites were searched meticulously for some sign of the kidnapped boys.

Hundreds of illegal weapons have been confiscated over the past 10 days, and IDF soldiers found numerous previously unknown tunnels and bunkers dug under Arab homes in Hevron.

Late Sunday night, Gaza-based Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh praised the terrorists, saying “the youth of the West Bank have restored honor to the intifada, the greatest legacy in history.”

Haniyeh’s Ramallah-based partner in the PA unity government, Fatah leader Mahmoud Abbas, said at his office in the Samaria PA capital the kidnapping was “unjustified and unacceptable.” He added that Israelis should see Palestinians in the same way, and realize they are “human beings like them.”

The Islamic holiday of Ramadan – in which observant Muslims fast during the daylight hours for the entire month – is due to begin shortly. However, Israeli defense officials say they do not intend to relieve the pressure until the boys are found.

Progress in Tracking Terror Kidnappers, Slow But Sure

Wednesday, June 18th, 2014

Progress is being made in hunting down the terrorists responsible for kidnapping three Israeli teens in Gush Etzion last Thursday night.

Israeli authorities now know which Hamas wing was involved in the operation to abduct the boys, who were hitchhiking home for the Sabbath from the renowned Mekor Chaim Yeshiva in Kfar Etzion, where they learn during the week.

Communications Minister Gilad Erdan told an interviewer on Israeli public radio Wednesday morning that the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) is aware of which Hamas cell is responsible for kidnapping the teens.

An Egyptian official also has told international media on condition of anonymity that Cairo officials are also helping Israel to gather information about the whereabouts of the abducted yeshiva students.

“There is a flow of information but we are still short, so there is no negotiation,” the official told Reuters. He added that Egyptian officials are in contact with Hamas and other Palestinian Authority unity government factions.

Netanyahu Praises Soldiers for Rounding Up Terrorists He Released

Wednesday, June 18th, 2014

IDF soldiers spent the dark hours of Tuesday night tramping around the hills of Judea and Samaria and bashing in reinforced metal doors to homes in Arab villages, rounding up some 50 terrorists who had been released from Israeli prisons in exchange for kidnapped former Israeli hostage Gilad Shalit. Another 15 Hamas members were arrested as well and taken for interrogation.

They also shut down the Fatah-controlled Al-Aqsa radio station in the Palestinian Authority capital of Ramallah, as well as its transmitter in Hevron. In addition, the IDF raided a number of charity organization centers operated by the ‘Dawa’ social services division of Hamas in Judea and Samaria.

By the wee hours of Wednesday morning, soldiers from the Kefir and Nachal Brigades had stormed selected homes in a host of PUG towns across the region, backed up by a paratroopers combat unit. Among the locations targeted were Jenin, Kabatiya, Tzufrir and Beit Awa, and others.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu praised the troops for their tenacity in tracking down the recidivists in what undoubtedly was a frustrating and difficult mission — a fact he acknowledged.

“I wish to extend my congratulations to the troops and commanders of the IDF and the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) for the complex operations they carried out overnight,” the prime minister wrote in a tweet posted on the Twitter social networking site.

“The operation overnight in which Hamas terrorists were arrested, including those released in the prisoner swap for Gilad Shalit, is an element that carries with it an important message,” he tweeted on his Twitter account. “This is all part of a series of many operations that will continue, and their goal is to retrieve the kidnapped youngsters and strike a blow to Hamas in Judea and Samaria.”

All of those who were arrested were members of Hamas and were selected by the Shin Bet as targets for capture by the IDF. As part of their early release from prison in the swap deal that brought Shalit home to his parents after five years of captivity in Gaza, the fugitives had signed a pledge – which they violated – not to return to terrorist lifestyles.

Also on Tuesday night, Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Ron Prosor, noted that although PA unity government leader Mahmoud Abbas had signed a document for membership in the Convention on the Rights of the Child, clearly his people hadn’t read it.

Prosor pointed out than in less than 10 days since the new PA unity government officially was formed, the international community raced to offer congratulations on the new ‘marriage.’ He recommended that those who offered the congratulations likewise now race to look into the eyes of the parents of the kidnapped teens.

Canada Condemns PA Terror Kidnapping, But Obama’s Silent

Sunday, June 15th, 2014

Canada has firmly condemned last week’s Palestinian Authority terrorist kidnapping  of three teenage boys but U.S. President Barack Obama has yet to say a word about the attack — even though one of the hostages is an American citizen.

The boys are students at the Makor Chaim yeshiva high school at Kfar Etzion in Gush Etzion. They were apparently abducted somewhere near the Judean town of Alon Shevut, about 15 minutes south of Jerusalem.

Palestinian Authority Unity Government Arabs starting passing out candies and other sweets in the streets of Judea, Samaria and Gaza, to celebrate the attack after hearing about the kidnapping.

Canadian Foreign Minister John Baird issued the statement Saturday night, strongly condemning the kidnapping and reminding the PA in no uncertain terms that its paramilitary forces were trained, equipped and armed by Canada and the U.S.

“Canada is deeply concerned by reports that three Israeli teenagers may have been kidnapped in the West Bank and condemns those aiming to instigate conflict.

“We urge the Palestinian security authorities, who have been trained through Canadian and U.S. leadership, to make every effort to investigate this incident and work diligently to ensure the safe return of these children to their families.

“We call for the immediate release of the three Israeli teenagers. Whoever has taken this action must be found and brought to justice,” Baird said.

While Canada was unequivocal in its public condemnation of the terror attack on the three innocent teens, Israel’s “best friend” — the United States — has remained silent on the issue. The White House has made no public statement whatsoever, and the State Department restricted itself to a phone conversation between U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and Prime Minister Netanyahu.

Following is the transcript of the terse dialogue that took place between reporters and the State Department spokesperson as journalists tried to make sense of United States actions in the wake of the terrorist attack on the three boys Thursday night, especially given that one of kidnapped teens was an American citizen.

QUESTION: And last one, and this is in the Middle East. There’s reports coming out of the West Bank that there’s – three teens were kidnapped, and one of them is an American citizen. Do you have anything on that?

MS. HARF: We are aware – of course seen the reports, are very concerned for their well-being. The Secretary a short while ago expressed his concern in a meeting with Tzipi Livni in London and also has spoken with President Abbas this morning about it as well.

We are working with the Government of Israel and with the Palestinian Authority to try to ensure the situation is resolved quickly, and that the three teenagers are safely reunited with their families. I can’t confirm citizenship at this point.

QUESTION: Okay.

QUESTION: Did you – the Israelis say that the Palestinian Authority has – is responsible for their –

MS. HARF: I don’t have a readout of those conversations.

QUESTION: No, no, no. I understand that, but the Israelis are holding – say that the PA is responsible for their – these – the safety of these three teenagers.

MS. HARF: Well –

QUESTION: Do you share that?

MS. HARF: What we know is the Israelis and the Palestinian Authority are working closely together on efforts to find the three teenagers and to hopefully bring a quick resolution to the matter, and of course giving this cooperation our full encouragement.

QUESTION: But you don’t think that the PA –

MS. HARF: I don’t have more. I don’t have anything more on this, Matt.

QUESTION: Okay, all right. The Israelis also say that they told Ambassador Shapiro, right?

MS. HARF: Yes, Ambassador Shapiro.

QUESTION: Ambassador Shapiro, yes – about the one who has American citizenship. Can you confirm if there was a conversation between him and the Israelis about one of the three, regardless of whether you can confirm –

MS. HARF: I’m sure Ambassador Shapiro has been in contact on this.

QUESTION: All right.

For the record, the Fatah faction led by Mahmoud Abbas — who heads the Palestinian Authority Unity Government — has called on shopkeepers in Judea and Samaria via its official Facebook page to destroy their CCTV security camera footage in order to sabotage the IDF’s efforts to rescue the kidnapped teenagers and hunt down the terrorists who attacked them.

If the United States believes that handing out sweets to celebrate the kidnapping of Jewish children by terrorists and destroying security film footage to foil their rescue is evidence of how the new Palestinian Authority Unity Government “works closely together” with the Israeli government to find and rescue the kidnapped teens,  there’s a bridge for sale in Brooklyn. At a bargain price.
