Hamas TV: Dead Gaza Civilians Privileged to Have Died This Way

Wednesday, July 30th, 2014

JERUSALEM – Hamas’ propaganda machine has been working relentlessly to generate a depiction of the events that suits their objectives in their war on Israel. Using news, multimedia and social media, they have been presenting lies and a distorted account of the events to garner the populations support for their cause.

One of the issues Hamas has been focusing on is an attempt to both justify and console Gaza’s population over the many civilian deaths it has caused in the Gaza war.

While broadcasting gruesome pictures of dead civilians, including children, a TV host explained last week that since in Islam a person’s time of death is predetermined by Allah, the people who have been killed in the recent fighting have actually “gained”: They would have died now anyway, but now they will receive the rewards of Martyrdom – Shahada – in Paradise.

Reporting on this issue, Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) has further documented Hamas’ use of civilians as human shields, which has led to a high civilian death toll. Hamas has instructed Gaza civilians to disregard Israel’s warnings to evacuate areas before they were bombed, and has decried those who have criticized the high civilian death toll.

The glorification of Martyrdom both justifies the Hamas activities that led to these deaths and also may console the population. In addition, this message may persuade civilians to continue endangering their lives by protecting Hamas terrorists and their terror infrastructure with their bodies.

Recently, PMW reported on a sermon by the former Palestinian Authority Minister of Religious Affairs, Mahmoud Al-Habbash, who likewise glorified Martyrdom death as something to which Palestinians should aspire.

Hamas TV host said last week:

“Every soul has its time. These people – their time had come, and they were Martyred (i.e., Gaza civilians killed in war). They have gained [Paradise]. They have nothing in this world, especially in the Gaza Strip. There’s no life in the Gaza Strip. What life can we have in the Gaza Strip? Being with Allah is better. Being with Allah is better. What we see is very hard but we won’t surrender, Allah willing. The first to say it are the Martyrs’ family. The first to say it are the Martyrs’ mothers and fathers… Don’t be disturbed by these images. He who was killed this way doesn’t feel. By Allah, he does not feel. These are not my words, but the words of our beloved Prophet [Muhammad]: He who is Martyred doesn’t feel. Only we suffer by these images. By Allah, [the Martyr] doesn’t feel. His soul has ascended to Allah. His soul is with the Lord. His soul is inside a green bird. He is with Allah now. He is in Paradise. Only we suffer by these images… In other cities, in other countries, thousands die in earthquakes, floods, plane crashes, in ferry or shipwrecks, in natural or unnatural disasters. Thousands die. Thousands die but we don’t know what their fate is with Allah. But we [in Gaza] are Martyrs. The enemy has killed us and we are Martyrs.”

The IDF has finally bombed Hamas TV and radio yesterday. In a sense, it may have been a life saving mission for the Gazans as well, who will not be influenced by these deadly messages anymore.

Wanted: Human Shields and Grieving Gaza Photo Ops.

Thursday, July 10th, 2014

As usual, Gaza officials are starting to generate their graphic media photo ops, even at the expense of their own civilian populations. How many around the world will buy their sad, tainted wares this during this conflict?

The Gaza Interior Ministry has issued a notice to its residents ordering them to ignore the Israeli Air Force procedure known locally as the “knock on the roof.”

The “Knock on the roof” is a procedure in which fighter pilots first fire a small blank shell at the roof of a terrorist’s home in order to warn occupants to leave, just before a strike. It is intended to reduce — if not entirely avoid — the terrorists’ ability to force their people to become human shields.

But instead, Gaza officials have told their people, “Messages and phone calls from the IDF are intended to cause panic and weaken the internal front.

“We urge citizens not to cooperate with these messages, not to leave their homes and to keep a low profile,” they said.

It is interesting to note that past shipments of concrete and metal for construction in the region had to be terminated because it was discovered that terror groups were confiscating them and using them to build bunkers and weapons instead.

Such shipments were only resumed within the past couple of years, and that under strict international supervision, in order to ensure the supplies reached their intended destination and were used for the projects they were meant for. Even now, sewage treatment facilities are woefully out of date due to the emphasis of the ruling Gaza terrorist organization on the annihilation of Israel, rather than the improvement of the quality of life of its own population.

Concrete and metal has never been used to build things like public bomb shelters — let alone private shelters within homes or apartment buildings. Why should they?

By staying in their homes and ignoring warnings by the IDF, Gaza civilian deaths add up, providing graphic images for international and local journalists to beam around the world.

These images have been used in the past — and will be used again — in the propaganda war to claim that Israel is deliberately attacking “defenseless Palestinian civilians” in its war to silence the rocket fire aimed at its own civilian families.

Hamas False Reports Begin as Desperation Increases

Wednesday, July 9th, 2014

The Hamas terrorist organization has begun to issue false reports to journalists as its desperation rises to win its conflict with Israel.

As it does in each mini-war, Hamas is already grinding out rumors and disinformation to gullible journalists who believe the reports of destroyed targets and dead Jews.

The latest false report – issued in the form of an “IDF Alert” – claimed a missile attack destroyed an oil refinery in Haifa. A second report issued shortly after claimed that 25 Jews were killed.

There are specific criteria for authentic IDF reports to journalists, which professional reporters recognize. The public is urged not to believe unsubstantiated reports of Jewish deaths and destroyed Israeli infrastructure: there’s a lot of Arab disinformation out there. It’s all part of the propaganda war.

California School District Cancels Lesson on Holocaust Denial

Tuesday, May 6th, 2014

Students at a school in California who were given an assignment to compare propaganda with actual evidence on the Holocaust have instead been told to abandon the project.

The order came following a firestorm of criticism and at least one death threat aimed at Southern California’s Rialto Unified School District, which assigned the homework.

According to a report published in The Daily Bulletin newspaper, the project was assigned in April to 2,000 13-and-14 year old eighth grade students, as follows:

Shen tragic events occur in history, there is often debate about their actual existence. For example, some people claim the Holocaust is not an actual historical event, but instead is a propaganda tool that was used for political and monetary gain.  Based upon your research on this issue, write an argumentative essay, utilizing cited textual evidence, in which you explain whether or not you believe the Holocaust was an actual event in history, or merely a political scheme created to influence public emotion and gain. Remember to address counterclaims (rebuttals) to your stated claim. You are also required to use parenthetical (internal) citations and to provide a Works Cited page.”

It had first been reviewed by a committee of eighth grade teachers, and sent to middle school sites in February for comment prior to distribution to the students. No objections were raised at the time, according to the spokesperson.

But the district found itself under siege on Monday, with the switchboard lines ringing off the hook.

At least one person called police repeatedly threatening death to a district spokeswoman Syeda Jafri and the interim school superintendent Mohammad Z. Islam. The incident is under investigation.

But also among the critics was Rabbi Abraham Cooper, associate dean of the Los Angeles-based Simon Wiesenthal Center, who slammed the assignment as inappropriate.

Rabbi Cooper told FoxNews.com on Monday, “Whatever the motivation, it ends up elevating hate and history to the same level… We should train our kids to have critical thinking, but the problem here is the teacher confused teaching critical thinking with common sense, because common sense dictates you don’t comingle propaganda with common truth.”

The rabbi advised the district to instead assign students to research the issue of Holocaust denial and meet with local survivors of the Nazis.

The school district responded in a statement saying the interim superintendent will speak with its educational services department to “assure that any reference to the Holocaust ‘not occurring’ will be stricken from any current or future argumentative research assignments. The Holocaust is and should be taught in classrooms with sensitivity and profound consideration to the victims who endured the atrocities committed,” the statement continues. “We believe in the words of George Santayana, ‘Those who cannot learn from history are bound to repeat it.”

The Los Angeles office of the Anti-Defamation League said it was satisfied with the district’s actions by Monday. “It is ADL’s general position that an exercise asking students to question whether the Holocaust happened has no academic value; it only gives legitimacy to the hateful and anti-Semitic promoters of Holocaust denial,” Associate Regional Director Matthew Friedman was quoted as saying, after having spoken with the interim superintendent on Friday.

“ADL does not have any evidence that the assignment was given as part of a larger, insidious, agenda,” a blog post quoting Friedman continues. “Rather, the district seems to have given the assignment with an intent, although misguided, to meet Common Core standards relating to critical learning skills.”

In a number of European countries today — including Germany — Holocaust denial is a criminal offense for which one can be sentenced to prison. The Nazis exterminated six million Jews out of a total of some 11 million victims murdered between 1933 and 1945, in the Holocaust that took place prior to and during World War II. Some two-thirds of European Jewry was wiped out in the slaughter, which ended with the defeat of Nazi Germany by the U.S., UK and their Allies.

PA Times Charges of Israeli ‘Torture’ of Children with Kerry’s Visit

Thursday, January 2nd, 2014

The Palestinian Authority opened up the propaganda taps Wednesday with charges that Israel and the “occupation forces” are “torturing” Arab children.

The allegations were reported several hours before U.S. Secretary of State John Kelley landed in Israel. He previously has incited Arab violence by warning Israel that if it does not do as he says, it might face a new intifada.

“The international community is urgently required to act against Israel and punish the occupation state for violating international laws in the first instance, and in the second to save arrested Palestinian children who are under Israeli torture,” PA Minister of Detainees’ Affairs Zeyad Abu Ain told GulfNews.com.

“Meetings have been organized between European Union ambassadors and Palestinian children released from Israeli prisons and detention centers where the children told the ambassadors their torture stories,” he added. “We have solid and undisputed proof of violations by the Israeli occupation against Palestinian children and the Israelis cannot deny this occurs,” he stressed.

It is true that Israel arrests minors, Jews and Arabs alike. That is because the minors commit acts of violence, like Arabs throwing rocks at Jews and Jews throwing rocks at police.

The Palestinian Authority apparently considers that it is “torture” for a child to be in jail. It certainly is not pleasant, nor is it pleasant to be on the receiving end of a rock.

But Israeli jails really are not jails. The Gulf News report called them “iron cages.”

And the children really are patriots, the Palestinian Authority minister said. “Those patriotic children are usually sent to unauthorized detention centers in the spreading colonies in the West Bank,” the official told Gulf News. “The children are not kept in official detention centers or prisons so the occupation forces can treat them in their own way.”

Palestinian Authority Claims IDF Tear Gas Killed Elderly Man

Thursday, January 2nd, 2014

Foreign media are reporting without question another Palestinian Authority story of a death of an elderly man – instead of the usual pregnant woman, toddler or mentally disturbed person – at the hands of the IDF, which was operating in the area of Kalkilya, located between western Samaria communities and the metropolitan Tel Aviv city of Kfar Saba.

A military spokeswoman told The Jewish Press that the IDF still is looking into the report. She confirmed there was activity in the areas and there was a report of a riot. The Israeli military  usually does not enter Palestinian Authority villages unless there is a threat to Jewish motorists or unless it needs to arrest a terrorist cell.

The problem with these stories is that the IDF is thorough is in its investigation and does not immediately deny a report just for the sake of propaganda. Thursday’s claim by the Palestinian Authority could be true, but if it turns out that the 85-year-old man indeed died but without any connection to IDF activity, the damage will be too late to correct. It would not be the first time that the PA blamed Israel for the death of someone who died of natural causes or in a domestic accident.

With U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry scheduled to arrive in Israel in the late afternoon, these kinds of reports are just what Mahmoud Abbas ordered – ammunition for the ready-made anti-Israeli propaganda media machine.

The Palestinian Authority’s official WAFA news agency, which is freely cited by foreign reporters despite its frequent fabrication of incidents, told readers that the man died after inhaling tear gas when the IDF fired canisters that landed inside his home.

The local Arabs were staging a ”march,” according to WAFA, a “rally” according to the Bethlehem-based Ma’an News Agency. Both terms usually would be described as a riot except for those who think “resistance” is not violence.

The March, or rally, or riot, was “organized to mark 49 years for the launch of the Palestinian revolution against Israel, said witnesses,” according to WAFA.

The “Palestinian revolution against Israel” refers to the founding of the Fatah terrorist organization by Yasser Arafat.

Iran Unveils Drone that Can Reach Israel – or Is It Photoshop?

Monday, November 18th, 2013

Iran announced on Monday it has manufactured a new unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) that can reach Israel and can carry two 330-pound bombs.

That really sounds scary. It conjures up a scene of a drone infiltrating Israel with two small nuclear bombs that can annihilate the country and bring an Islamic peace to the world. The threat, of course, is intended to strike fear into the hearts of Washington and Jerusalem, who now are expected to shiver in their boots and say “yes” to whatever Iran wants.

There is no proof that this new drone does not exist. Nor is there proof that is does exist.

Let’s assume for a minute the “Fotros” drone really does have a range of 620 miles.

Dr. Eldad Pardo, a Hebrew University expert on Iran, told The Jewish Press Monday, “It is one thing to make a drone that can reach Israel, but it is another thing to have the technological capability to do something with it.”

While not pooh-poohing Iran’s technological ability, Dr. Pardo said a drone needs highly sophisticated electronic systems to be able to do any damage.

He noted, “The drone looks very similar to others. We will have to wait for a few days and see if anyone notices something that would indicate it is a ruse.”

Iran bragged that the new drone “is equipped with state-of-the-art light cameras for reconnaissance.”

Its official media stated, “In recent years, Iran has made great achievements in its defense sector and has attained self-sufficiency in producing essential military equipment and systems.”

Dr. Pardo pointed out that Iran also is capable of using Photoshop.

Let’s take a look at some of Iran’s amazing achievements, some of which have been announced one after the other in the past three years.

Most of the regime’s announcements came at a convenient time when it was necessary to counter Israeli and Israeli threats.

Last month, Iran unveiled a supposed suicide combat drone. It did not take long for even amateurs to notice that the nose and tail appeared to be held together by duct tape.

Last January, Iran said it sent a monkey into space but provided no details of when and where the launch took place, if it ever did.

“Before” and “after” flight pictures clearly showed different monkeys. Iran’s Propaganda Ministry quickly came up with an explanation. Someone in its media department simply mixed up a picture of a monkey two years, ago.

How’s that for quick thinking?

Two years ago, Iran claimed it launched a rocket with a mouse, a turtle and worms. Nothing has been heard about that achievement since then, but it would be interesting to know how everyone got along during the ride.

Dr. Pardo said that last November, Iran boasted of a UAV that had the capacity to take off vertically, “but they took the picture from a journal,” he told The Jewish Press. The image of the supposed vertical take-off drone the image looks almost identical to a picture of a drone from a university in Japan.

This past February, Iran released photos of a brand-new stealth fighter, a remarkable feat – until it became clear that it  was only three-quarters of the size of a plane. Furthermore, a photo showed the “stealth fighter” flying over a mountain at the same angle of a stock photo.

In 2008, the media arm of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards released a photo of four missiles being launched. It was an amazing accomplishment. One of the rockets, including its exhaust trail, was exactly like another one of the rockets. If its rocket-producing capability is like its Photoshop capability, Iran really needs a new Propaganda Minister.

In November 2011, Iranian media announced is added two new submarines to its fleet. The following month, the official Fars (or is it Farce?) News Agency reported, “ The Iranian Navy plans to test-fire a mid-range surface-to-air missile,…  the first time that such a missile is launched from navy vessels.”

The same month – it seems the Propaganda Ministry was working overtime – Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi “announced Iran’s high capabilities in building UAVs, and said the country is mass-producing new types of combat drones.” Fars reported. He also said Iran has “already produced several types of combat drones, as well, and we are now mass-producing a number of them.”
