Abeles and Heymann Merges with Israeli Company Yehiam

Thursday, May 24th, 2012

Disclaimer: This reporter thinks that Abeles and Heymann makes the best Glatt Kosher franks around.

A & H Products (Abeles and Heymann), Inc. has merged with Yehiam USA, LLC. a subsidiary of Maadaney Yehiam LTD Israel, to form a new company. The new company will be called Abeles & Heymann, LLC. located in Hillside, NJ.

Abeles & Heymann was started in 1954 by Oscar Abeles and his nephew Leopold Heymann. Their product line consists of premium Glatt Kosher Deli items.

The company was sold in 1997 to Mr. Seth Leavitt and Mr. David Flamholz. Over the last 15 years they contributed to the growth of the company into markets normally not penetrated by the Glatt Kosher industry. A & H Products are available nationwide, in major U.S. sporting venues, supermarket chains, Costco and even in Puerto Rico.

A & H established a reputation as the venerable provision company in the Glatt kosher industry under the auspices of Leavitt and Flamholz. Maadaney Yehiam was founded in 1969 as the manufacturing branch of Kibbutz Yehiam located in Northern Israel.

More than 40 years later the Israeli company employs over 150 people and produces over 15 million lbs. annually, of high quality Ready To Eat deli meats and sausages in a state-of-the-art facility.

Today, Yehiam LTD Israel is a manufacturer of beef and poultry items in Israel and exports a full line of poultry products to the United States under the Hod Golan brand name.

Yehiam and A & H, saw an opportunity to benefit from synergies in the industry and brought together two solid companies. Mr. Leavitt is quoted as saying “The strength of Yechiam in the Glatt Kosher Poultry market coupled with A & H’s strong brand recognition in the United States leads the owners of The Company to feel positive of their new venture.”

Seth Leavitt told JewishPress.com that “with this merger, Abeles and Heymann will be able to grow exponentially, and increase its market share significantly.”
