New IDF Instructional Video: Don’t Shoot Female Terrorists [video]

Friday, November 4th, 2016

An official IDF instructional video directs soldiers to avoid as much as possible shooting at female terrorists, introducing a list of exceptions and actions that must be considered before opening fire on an armed, murderous lady. The video was produced by the Samaria Brigade and distributed over the past two weeks among soldiers and commanders, according to Makor Rishon. It leaves no doubt that soldiers in the field are right when they complain that the IDF rules of engagement are confusing and even dangerous.

Noting the rise in terror attacks perpetrated by women, the video suggests that since the risk they pose is lower than that of male terrorists, and since the females’ death in action raises the Arab motivation for revenge (only we get to kill our women), “it would be much preferable to neutralize the female terrorist using early detection, Krav Maga engagement, and should it be necessary, suspect apprehension protocol.”

The video ends with a proviso saying soldiers should not take exaggerated risks and if necessary should not hesitate to shoot even a female terrorist. But this contradictory message is liable to cause even more confusion and hesitation, especially since some of the stabbing scenes shown in the video clearly suggest that pausing to assess and defuse the threat from a female attacker made things much worse for the Israeli victim.

Trial Starts for Sheriff Who Threatened to Shoot Prosecutor Between his ‘Jewish Eyes’

Monday, October 31st, 2016

The trial of Louisiana Iberia Parish Sheriff Louis Ackal for beating prisoners and then covering up his actions starts this week in federal court, AP reported Sunday, noting that the case against Ackal and his underlings has raised racial tensions and did away with whatever had been left of the public’s trust in local police.

Roberta Boudreaux, of the Committee to Elect Iberia Parish Sheriff, who ran against Ackal last year, told AP that her community was “very fortunate not to have an uprising in our parish.” Ackal, 73, remains in office despite the trial, but he has been barred from carrying a gun.

The indictment accuses the sheriff of using “racially derogatory language” when two narcotics agents told him they got drunk and attacked two young black men in 2008, and instructed them to lie about the incident. He is also accused of ordering a supervisor to delete the agents’ names from a report on the attack. He is also accused of ordering his men to beat up prisoners in 2011. Ackal faces a prison sentence if he is convicted of the charges of conspiracy and depriving prisoners of their constitutional rights.

Ackal is also accused of threatening to shoot a federal prosecutor investigating his case between his “Jewish eyes.” The threat was allegedly captured on tape.

Islamists’ Ultimatum to Hamas: Release our Members or We’ll Shoot at Israel

Friday, October 7th, 2016

After the Israeli town of Sderot was hit last Wednesday with a rocket shot from the Gaza Strip, the responsible Salafi terror group Aknaf Bait al-Maqdis delivered an ultimatum to the Hamas government: release our activists from your jail within 48 hours, or we’ll target Sderot again, Ma’ariv reported Friday.

The ultimatum was issued by a senior in the Salafi terror group, Abu Bakr al-Maqdisi, who declared on his Facebook page: “We presented to Hamas a 48 hour ultimatum which they did not obey so we hit Sderot. Now we give them another 48 hours to release our activists from Hamas jail.”

Aknaf Bait al-Maqdis, an ISIS affiliate, was one of two groups who claimed responsibility for the Sderot rocket, with the declaration: “The shooting was part of our ongoing efforts against the Jewish enemies of Allah, as well as revenge for the arrest of our people by Hamas.”

Another, less well know group, Al-Fahad Al-Sabah, also claimed responsibility for the same rocket. There are several warring Islamist group in the Gaza Strip, which are in constant conflict with the Hamas government. Last week, five Salafi terrorists were arrested by police in Rafah and in Gaza City.

Sderot Mayor Alon Davidi told Ma’ariv it would be “unacceptable” for his town to become the battleground for various Gazan factions to fight each other. “Sderot is not Gaza’s gun fodder,” he said. “If there’s no quiet in Sderot, there must be no quiet in Gaza either. I count on the prime minister, the defense minister and the IDF to shortcut this pattern.”

The terms “Salafist jihadist” and “Jihadist-Salafism” were coined by scholar Gilles Kepel in 2002, to describe “a hybrid Islamist ideology” developed by international Islamist volunteers in the 1980s’ Afghan anti-Soviet jihad, organized largely by the CIA. Since then these hybrid Islamists have spread across the Middle East and North Africa, beheading and exploding their path to divine redemption. Three or four such groups planted themselves in the Gaza Strip and northern Sinai.

On August 14, 2009, Sheikh Abdel Latif Moussa, spiritual leader of Jund Ansar Allah, an armed Salafist jihadist group in the Gaza Strip, announced during his Friday sermon the establishment of an Islamic emirate in the Palestinian territories, and vowed an attack on the ruling Islamist group Hamas, for failing to enforce Sharia law. Hamas forces circled his mosque complex and in the fighting that ensued Sheikh Abdel Latif Moussa and 23 others were killed, and more than 130 were wounded.

Salafist jihadists have also been involved in protests against King Abdullah II of Jordan, and the kidnapping and killing of Italian peace activist Vittorio Arrigoni in Gaza.

Israel, which under its new defense minister, Avigdor Liberman, has been retaliating swiftly for every single violation of the 2014 ceasefire, refuses to distinguish between the different rockets shot across the Gaza border. It holds Hamas accountable for all of them, and, in fact, has taken advantage of the recent few rockets and mortar shells to hit Hamas training facilities in the northern Gaza Strip.

IDF Fires Back at Hamas Position

Sunday, September 4th, 2016

Just before midnight after Shabbat, IDF troops running standard operations alongside the Gaza border near Netiv Ha’asara came under fire from within Gaza.

No one was injured in the attack, but bullet holes were found in the ground next to the troops.

The IDF then fired at a Hamas position, according to the IDF spokesperson.

The IDF did not clarify if it used artillery or tank fire against the Hamas target.

Shiloh Musings: Did Elor Azariya Shoot Terrorist Post-Mortem

Sunday, September 4th, 2016

No doubt that this whole story would make great mesmerizing  suspense movie.

In legal twist, expert says terrorist shot in Hebron was already dead
Former chief pathologist says he believes terrorist shot in Hebron in March had expired before Elor Azaria shot him • Findings contradict official autopsy results, as well as Azaria’s version of the event • Testimony could see manslaughter charge revised. (Israel Hayom)

For the past couple of months, the Israeli public has been following the accusations and now trial of Elor Azaria, who when seeing movement of an already shot/injured Arab terrorist dressed in heavy clothing despite the heat, shot him.

A Leftist Arab (terrorists) sympathizer group photographed the scene and publicized it without sound. By muting the sound, viewers can’t hear the shouts cautioning that the injured terrorist maybe boobytrapped, with hidden explosives. Their con worked, and public figures, including the then Minister of Defense, quickly condemned the young soldier.

We all know that one of the signs of a possible terrorist is wearing a coat or jacket in the summer, since outerwear can easily hide bombs strapped to the body. Many Arab terrorists have been caught before managing to activate deadly explosives, because they had been suspected due of their inappropriately heavy jacket.

Unfortunately for Elor Azaria, the Israeli media and Leftist politicians decided to use him to up their standing with the international Left. They have this dangerously fokokt ideology that terrorists are ordinary criminals, who should be given human and legal rights.

And now, out of left field, comes Dr. Yehuda Hiss, whose opinion puts an unexpected surprise on the table. The terrorist’s  movements may have been just muscle twitches that sometimes happen at death. The original shots at the terrorist at the time he was apprehended caused his death, not Elor Azaria’s bullets.

Does it really make a difference? Honestly, this whole trial and witch hunt is a moral travesty of justice. Soldiers in the field, like Elor Azaria and even citizens who find themselves in the midst of terror attacks, should not be held to civilian theoretical standards. And as far as I’m concerned, all Arab terrorists should be executed on the spot and never given civilian criminal trials.

This trial must be stopped and Elor Azaria set free, his record purged.

Kurds Shoot Rockets at Turkish Airport, Kill 11 Police in Truck Bomb Attack

Sunday, August 28th, 2016

Turkish authorities blame the Kurdish PKK of shooting rockets at a civilian airport in Diyarbakir in southwestern Turkey Saturday night, sending passengers and staff scrambling for shelter, Dogan news agency reported. There were no casualties. According to Dogan, four rockets were shot at a police checkpoint outside the airport’s VIP lounge just before midnight. According to Turkish TV, the rockets did not hit their target but landed instead in an open field nearby. Diyarbakir governor Huseyin Aksoy told the TV news channel there was no disruption in the flights schedule.

The PKK has been fighting the Turkish government since 1984, and is considered a terrorist organization by the US and the EU.

On Friday morning, Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim reported that 11 police officers were killed and 78 wounded, including three civilians, in a truck-bomb attack in the Cizre district of the southeastern province of Şırnak.

According to Dogan, the attack took place at a police check point outside a riot police station in the Konak neighborhood on the Cizre-Şırnak highway. After some shooting, the bomb on the truck was detonated, destroying the riot police building.

Speaking at a press conference with his Bulgarian counterpart Boyko Borissov in Istanbul, Yildirim vowed to overcome all attacks against his country, saying, “No terrorist group could hold Turkey captive,” and “the brotherhood will not be damaged.”

“Let our nation know that we have opened a total war against these terrorist groups,” Yildirim announced, then quoted Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, founding father of modern Turkey, who paraphrased on Patrick Henry when he declared, “Give me independence or give me death.” Yildirim added that “these vile people” would get their just deserts.

New Group Lending Legal Representation to Farmers Who Shoot Arab Burglars

Thursday, August 18th, 2016

Farmers at the Forefront, an initiative of the Regavim NGO whose mission is “to ensure responsible, legal, accountable & environmentally friendly use of Israel’s national lands and the return of the rule of law to all areas and aspects of the land and its preservation,” is offering free legal representation to Israeli farmers who have shot criminal invaders on their property.

“Feel abandoned? Afraid to sleep at night? Need counseling and legal defense? We’re on your side,” says a press release from the new organization, which sees itself as a bulwark against the plague of burglaries in Israeli owned farms both inside the green line and in Judea and Samaria.

The Regavim press release describes dozens of calls the group is receiving from farmers asking for legal counseling regarding invasions of their agricultural plots as well as their private domains in Kibbutz, Moshav, and private communities. One such individual was a farmer from the Aviam moshav in the Golan, who has endured years of harassment by criminals from the nearby Bedouin town of Tuba-Zangariyye. Two years ago he was attacked by three Bedouins who tried to injure him but was able to defend himself. The criminals then filed a complaint against him with local police which confiscated his legally licensed handgun.

Another was a framer from Yavne’el who’s been suffering from invasions of his grazing lands by the Bedouin villagers of Rumat al-Heib, who cut down his fences and cause additional damages. Finally they stole cows from his barnyard, and when he complained to police, the Border Guard policeman who arrived to investigate stole one of his calves, then closed the file “for lack of public interest.” After the Farmers at the Forefront became involved on the farmer’s behalf the case was reopened and the robber policeman was indicted.

“We believe that once there’s an address for the farmers to turn to, the burglars will understand eventually that it doesn’t pay to mess with them,” declares Farmers at the Forefront. “We can’t continue to abandon Israel’s farmers in the field, literally. They guard our land, so we will guard them, and until the State does what it’s supposed to — we’ll do it.”

If you’ve recently shot a burglar on your farm or need any other kind of advise on your thieving villager neighbors, write to agro.law@regavim.org or call 02-547-0022.
