Libyan Al Qaeda Terrorist to Appear in NY Court Tuesday

Tuesday, October 15th, 2013

Al Qaeda terrorist Abu Anas al Libi, snatched off the streets in Libya last week by U.S. soldiers, is expected to appear in federal court in New York Tuesday on his way to being tried in the United States for terrorism.

Al Libi’s wife has claimed that he has nothing to do with Al Qaeda anymore, while New York Republican Congressman Peter King said that putting him on trial deprives investigators of the chance to learn more from him about Al Qaeda operations.

Al Libi was indicted in New York in 2001 in the bombings of U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania and for allegedly involvement in Al Qaeda attacks on American soldiers in Saudi Arabia, Yemen and Somalia.

SEALs Abandoned Somalia Raid Since Target Was Surrounded by Children

Tuesday, October 8th, 2013

Is it possible that political correctness is now guiding military strategy? According to Fox News, U.S. Navy SEALS from SEAL Team Six were ordered to abandon their targeted operation against a top al-Shabaab commander in Barawe, Somalia, ending a fierce firefight at his seaside compound when they saw that there were children present and realized they could not capture their target without hurting the little ones.

As details were emerging about the Friday night raid that was intended to capture Abdikadir Mohamed Abdikadir, aka “Ikrima,” a Kenyan of Somali origin. Pentagon press secretary George Little said in a statement Monday, the military personnel “conducted the operation with unparalleled precision.”

That means that as soon as they realized they were going to incur the wrath of the politically correct troops in the west for cutting through children to reach their target, they dropped their equipment and fled.

Military sources told Fox News that the military gear that was left behind, and was then photographed and tweeted lavishly by al Shabaab, was typical of the gear used by the SEALs and left little doubt that the Americans left the place in a hurry.

Al Shabaab is the Somali terrorist group that executed last month’s Kenya mall attack that killed more than 60 people, including many children. Apparently, the same rules don’t apply to their own children, who must never be harmed by Western forces.

Matt Bryden, director of Nairobi-based think tank Sahan research, told NPR that the Nairobi mall demonstrated a “dangerous convergence of al-Shabab, al-Hijra and the old al-Qaida East Africa networks,” which may lay a foundation for future cooperative attacks in East Africa.

A leaked Kenyan intelligence report confirms that Ikrima was plotting “multiple attacks” inside Kenya, “sanctioned by al-Qaida” in Pakistan, and “involving financial and logistical support from South African operatives.”

He just has to make sure to bring along the kids, and his success is certain.

Kenya, Unlike Israel, ‘Does not Negotiate with Terrorists’ (Video)

Monday, September 23rd, 2013

Loud explosions pouring black smoke into the skies of Nairobi Monday afternoon signaled a hoped for conclusion of the bloody military-style terrorist attack on the partly-Israeli owned Westgate Mall in Nairobi, where the death toll is feared to rise to nearly 70 or more.

Authorities, who promised on Sunday that the three-day siege would end by nightfall, said they are in the final stages of killing or arresting all of the terrorists after having “smoked them out” with an assault at dawn.

Security forces said that they have taken control of the entire mall, but gunfights and explosions continued after the announcement. Despite claims that no hostages remain, it is feared that several still remain trapped by the terrorists.

Nearly 200 people already have been counted as wounded, and 62 have been confirmed as murdered, including the wife of a U.S. AID worker.

Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta, whose nephew and his fiancé were among the victims, maintained a policy that Israel introduced to the world in the Entebbe raid and then abandoned in recent years – no negotiations with terrorists. “We will not negotiate with terrorists,” said Colonel Cyrus Oguna, a Kenyan military spokesman.

Al Shabaab has been airing propaganda, claiming that its terrorists on Monday repulsed “Israelis and Kenyan forces” that tried to enter the mall. Kenyan officials said clashes erupted inside the building early Monday morning, when approximately a dozen terrorists or believed to be holed up in a supermarket.

Sheikh Ali Mohamud Rage said in an online audio statement, “The mujahedeen will kill the hostages if the enemies use force.”

At least five Americans have been injured and at least four Britons have been killed.

Among the dead are the wife a foreign worker for the U.S. Agency for International Development in Nairobi, a dentist, a widely-known Ghanan professor and poet, a British-Australian architect and his pregnant girlfriend, a Canadian diplomat who was a liaison officer with the Canada Border Services Agency, an 8-year-old child from India, two French women, a woman form China who worked in real estate, and a retired UNICEF worker from Peru.

Kenyan Terrorists May be American Citizens

Monday, September 23rd, 2013

The FBI is investigating whether three, and possibly five of the ten to fifteen terrorists in the Westgate Mall in Nairobi, Kenya are American citizens.

As of now, it is believed that three American, a Canadian, a Brit, and a Finnish citizen are among the terrorists.

As of Sunday, at least 68 people were killed and 175 were injured by the terrorists who were targeting non-Islamists. 1000 people were freed during the raid.

Fox News reports there may be between 50 to 200 people are still in the mall, in hiding to avoid the terrorists, and there are another ten people who are still being held hostage.

Al Qaeda Takes ‘Credit’ for Kenya Attack, Holds Hostages in Mall

Sunday, September 22nd, 2013

Al Qaeda has taken responsibility for the ongoing terrorist attack that so far has resulted in the murders of at least 59 victims, with others still being held hostage by up to 15 terrorists. Nearly 200 have been wounded.

The attack began on Saturday with an armed attack on Nairobi’s upscale Westgate Mall. More than 1,000 have escaped, but Sky News reported Sunday that security forces have not been able to secure the second floor of the shopping center after clearing terrorists from the upper and lower levels.

Several American were injured, but none have been killed, according to the latest reports. Two Canadians, at least one of them a diplomat. were murdered by the Somalia-based al Shabaab terrorist organization, linked with Al Qaeda. A statement from al-Shabab on its official Twitter feed Saturday says the attacks are retribution for military action by Kenya inside Somalia.

One eyewitness told Sky News, “I witnessed a few people get up and say something in Arabic and the gunmen let them go. A colleague of mine said he was Muslim and recited something in Arabic and they let him go as well. I saw a lot of children and elderly people being shot dead.

‘The American’ Somali Jihadist Executed for Sin of Narcissism

Friday, September 13th, 2013

This time he’s actually dead.

At least, that’s what the current reports are saying.  The “he” is American-born jihadist Omar Hammami, who is also known as Abu Mansour al Amriki.

The nickname of the dead terrorist, “al Amriki,” means “the American.”  He was born in Alabama to a Muslim Syrian father and an American Christian mother.  Originally raised as a Southern Baptist, Hammami eventually turned towards his father’s religion, but unlike his father, Omar could not reconcile a western life and the practice of the Islamic religion.

The young Hammami was close with his Jewish high school teacher, Kathleen Hirsch, who mentored him for six years while he was in the gifted student program first in elementary school and then at Daphne Middle School in Alabama.

As Hammami became increasingly consumed by Islam, he flouted the rules and dared anyone to stop him.  Apparently, no one did.

“By his junior year, Hammami had become a spectacle. He made a point of praying by the flagpole outside school yet refused to say the Pledge of Allegiance, friends recalled. In class, he swore at Hirsch, his longtime teacher, assailing her for being Jewish,” The New York Times reported in a lengthy 2010 story about him.

Hammami moved first to Canada, where he married a Somali girl whose family had fled the civil war in her home country.  Their next stop was Egypt.  In 2006 Hammami, disappointed by the secularism of Egypt, moved again, leaving behind his wife and child.  This time Hammami went to Somalia, intent upon pursuing his goal of jihad.  He hoped to help usher in the caliphate, that is, an Islamic world order. He wanted to live where Islamic ideology, the Sharia, is practiced fully and accurately.

Hammami joined al Shabaab, the “Muhahadeen Youth Movement,” which is an al Qaeda faction based in Somalia.  Al Shabaab is dedicated to fighting enemies of Islam, and have been responsible for many deaths of foreign aid workers in Somalia.  The group controls large portions of southern Somalia, where it has imposed very strict Islamic rules.

In the seven years during which Abu Mansour al Amriki was in Somalia, he served as a Shabaab military commander, propagandist, recruiter, and fundraiser.

Although Omar rose quickly through the al Shabaab ranks, the same qualities that marked him as a leader first in his Alabama schools, then amongst his fellow al Qaeda terrorists, soured his fellow Islamists.  Omar “starred” in too many propaganda and recruiting videos.  He even released several “hip hop” videos, encouraging others to join him in jihad. The other al Shabaab leaders turned on Hammami and exiled him in January, 2013, for his “narcissistic pursuit of fame.”

Al Amriki again turned to videos to express his displeasure with his former comrades, chastising them for being short-sighted.  The al Shabaab terrorists were solely focused on controlling Somalia, whereas al Amriki wanted to conquer the whole world for Islam.

According to reports, the Somali insurgents had enough of the white-skinned jihadist with the big plans. Twice before there were rumors of al Amriki’s death.

Members of al Shabaab reportedly shot and killed Hammami and a colleague in their hideout in southern Somalia on Thursday, September, 12.  He was 29 years old.

Islamic Militants Bomb UN Compound in Somalia

Wednesday, June 19th, 2013

Seven members of the terrorist organization known as al-Shabab, an al Qaeda offshoot, exploded a bomb outside the UN headquarters in Mogadishu, Somalia on Wednesday, June 19.

The terrorists detonated a truck rigged with explosives at the gate to the compound. Seven of the attackers died and nine others were killed, bringing the total dead to 16.  After the truck exploded, terrorists poured in and briefly took control of the compound.

African Union and Somali security forces responded and took control of the compound following a 90 minute gun battle. The UN staff who sought refuge in the compound’s secure bunker then were evacuated to the secure military base and airport complex across the street, Ben Parker, a spokesman for the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia, said, according to CTVNews.

The UN had only recently expanded its presence in Mogadishu, believing control over the area by Islamic terrorists had receded. The hope that al Shabab had been routed by African Union peacekeeping forces was punctured by Wednesday’s bombing.

“The United Nations Common Compound houses UN personnel working on humanitarian and development issues for the Somali people. This was an act of blatant terrorism and a desperate attempt to knock Somalia off its path of recovery and peace building,” said Nicholas  Kay, the top UN official in Somalia.

Al Shabab is an army of radicalized clerics and fighters trained in Pakistan.  They are committed to overthrowing Somalia’s government, and seek to impose Islamic Sharia – a political religious ideology. Al Shabab became affiliated with al Qaeda in 2010.

Al Shabab was thought to have been largely defeated in Mogadishu, a city it occupied and ruled for four years until most of its fighters were driven out in 2012 by African Union peacekeeping forces.

Jihadi Tourism Hits Europe

Wednesday, July 18th, 2012

Increasing numbers of Muslims in Europe are travelling to Afghanistan, Pakistan, Somalia and other conflict zones to obtain training in terrorist methods.

Although intelligence agencies have been following the trend since the July 2005 bombings of the London commuter system, which were perpetrated by four home-grown Islamic terrorists, the scale of the problem has come into greater focus in recent weeks.

European security officials are especially concerned about reports that al-Qaeda is recruiting and training Western operatives who have “clean” criminal records and have the ability to travel freely and blend in with European and American cultures.

In Norway, for example, an ethnic Norwegian convert to militant Islam who has received terrorist training from al-Qaeda’s offshoot in Yemen, is awaiting orders to carry out an attack on the West, officials from three European security agencies said on June 25.

European officials have confirmed that the man is “operational,” meaning he has completed his training and is about to receive a target. Although the terrorist-in-waiting is believed to still be in Yemen, even if he is found he cannot be extradited: under Norwegian law it is not a crime to attend a terrorist training camp.

The London-based newspaper Sunday Times, quoting intelligence services, published a story on July 1 that said the Norwegian jihadist had been trained by Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula [AQAP] to evade airport security and is plotting to hijack an American passenger plane and, in a suicide mission, crash it. The newspaper portrayed the plot as an attack on the upcoming London Olympics, to be held from July 27 to August 12, but said the target was specifically supposed to be an American aircraft.

The paper described the recruit as being a Norwegian citizen in his 30s, with no immigrant background, but who calls himself Abu Abdulrahman. The man, who converted to Islam in 2008, has apparently in recent months been undergoing training at AQAP bases in Yemen.

According to a detailed report in the Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet, on July 5, the individual is a 33-year-old Norwegian who, in his youth, was associated with Oslo’s far-left Blitz movement. Despite his one-time radical credentials, he later worked as a babysitter at a daycare center in Oslo, the city where he was born and raised. He did not have a history of violence, the paper said.

Dagbladet went on to report that eventually he became a member of the Green Party; a source close to the suspect said that, after the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, he had come to be viewed as an easily-influenced conspiracy theorist.

His ideological priorities shifted, according to the paper, after he married the daughter of a diplomat from an unspecified North African country. In 2008, he converted to Islam and underwent a change of lifestyle: he gave up alcohol and broke off almost all contact with his earlier friends. The newspaper stated that he recently became a father, and that his wife had travelled to her home country with their child.

Jonathan Evans, the head of MI5, Britain’s domestic security service, recently provided important context to the threat posed by would-be jihadists. In a rare public address on June 25, Evans said the Olympic Games in London “present an attractive target for our enemies and they will be at the center of the world’s attention in a month or so. No doubt some terrorist networks have thought about whether they could pull off an attack.”

“In back rooms and in cars and on the streets of this country there is no shortage of individuals talking about wanting to mount terrorist attacks here,” Evans continued. “It is essential that we maintain pressure on al-Qaeda.”

Evans also said that al-Qaeda militants are using the countries which toppled their leaders in the Arab Spring as bases to train radical Western youths for potential attacks on Britain: “This is the completion of a cycle. Al-Qaida first moved to Afghanistan in the 1990s due to pressure in their Arab countries of origin. They moved on to Pakistan after the fall of the Taliban. And now some are heading home to the Arab world again.”

“Today,” Evans added, “parts of the Arab world have once more become a permissive environment for al-Qaeda. A small number of British would-be jihadis are also making their way to Arab countries to seek training and opportunities for militant activity, as they do in Somalia and Yemen. Some will return to the UK and pose a threat here. This is a new and worrying development and could get worse.”
