Daphna Meir Fought Back

Sunday, June 19th, 2016

An Otniel mother of six did not go down quietly earlier this year when 16-year-old Arab terrorist Morad Bader Abdullah Adais stabbed her to death in front of three of her six children.

Daphna Meir, a neurosurgical nurse at Soroka Hospital, fought her attacker for possession of the knife as he stabbed her over and over again in the kitchen of her home.

That and other details of Meir’s struggle for life on January 17, 2016 came to light in a transcript of the killer’s interrogation by Shin Bet intelligence personnel published by Walla News.

Because the killer had to work so hard to end Meir’s life, the final time he stabbed her, the knife got stuck and he was unable to remove it – saving the lives of others in the community.

“She started screaming, the children saw me and also started screaming, then I stabbed her in her upper body another three or four times. She tried to fight me and tried to take the knife from me. The two children who were there were still screaming, but she continued to resist, so I pushed her, and overpowered her.”

He didn’t stab the children, he said, because “it’s forbidden.”

Her oldest daughter, Ra’anana, 17, provided the security forces with a description of the murderer. As a result, he was tracked down and caught within hours.

“She struggled against me… I stabbed her until I couldn’t remove the knife from her body… and [then] I saw another woman coming [so] I fled and went home and watched a Saudi Arabian movie.”

The killer told his interrogators that he committed the murder in order to help “liberate Palestine” – including cities such as Haifa, Akko, Tel Aviv and Jaffa (Yafo), Nazareth and Tiberias.

“The liberation of Palestine is in the hands of prisoners and heroic martyrs,” he declared. “We will return to Akko, to Haifa, to Tiberias, to Yafo and to Nazareth.”

He asked the interrogators why he was blocked from going to the Temple Mount. “I would go to the Al Aqsa Mosque, even if I would be killed,” he said. “And on the way, I would murder as many Zionist Jews as possible.”

He added that he himself intended to die – as a martyr, in order to attain the terrorist’s alleged promise of a bevy of beauties.

“I would have kept stabbing her and if I had seen another Jew I would have stabbed him to death too. If I had manage to withdraw the knife from her body I would have kept murdering Jews until I died a martyr’s death.

“Every Muslim hopes to die a martyr’s death,” the young terrorist explained. “I want to enter heaven and have 70 virgins.”

The Adais family home in nearby Yatta was demolished earlier this month in accordance with Israeli security protocol.

Daphna Meir’s Arab Killer is Convicted in Military Court

Tuesday, May 3rd, 2016

The killer of 39-year-old Otniel resident Daphna Meir, z’l, was convicted in a military court, the IDF spokesperson announced Tuesday.

A 16-year-old resident of the Palestinian Authority town of Yatta at the time he murdered the wife and mother of six, the Arab terrorist attacked Meir in her kitchen this past January.

Meir, a nurse in the neurosurgery unit at Soroka Medical Center in Be’er Sheva, tried to fight him off as he stabbed her in the head and upper body. Three of her children were home at the time, and heard the sounds of their mother being attacked.

The screams of her oldest daughter at home at the time prompted the terrorist to flee, while Meir called security forces and reported the attack. Medics came promptly but were unable to save her.

Meir was known for her strength and courage, but also for her serenity and leadership in the community. Two of her six children were foster children. Her husband told visitors during the shiva mourning period that the family wanted to focus on healing and “lifting up the Jewish people,” rather than avenging her death.

IDF Eliminates Road Terrorist in Judea

Monday, July 14th, 2014

IDF troops eliminated a Palestinian Arab road terrorist in Judea early Monday, identified by the Bethlehem-based Ma’an news agency as 22-year-old Munir Ahmed Badarin.

The attacker was one of a gang of three terrorists hurling firebombs and sharp rocks and cinder blocks at Israeli motorists as they passed the ambush site.

The masked attackers were waiting to attack Israelis along the southern end of Route 60, just west of the Arab village of Samua, south of Hebron and slightly north of the south Hebron Hills community of Yatir.

IDF soldiers who spotted them first fired warning shots in the air in an attempt to stop them, but when they continued attacking motorists, fired directly at the terrorists.

Numerous Israelis have been wounded and murdered in road terror attacks over the past several years.

Arabs hurling rocks, cinder blocks and firebombs at the windows and windshields of vehicles intend to kill those at who they aim. By smashing the glass, a driver’s attention is diverted from the road.

Often the car crashes as a result in addition to whatever injuries are caused by the flying glass. If the car crashes or is brought to a stop by other means, the terrorists then descend on the vehicle – and are then able to finish off their victims.

In several past instances – such as that which took the life of Kiryat Arba resident Asher Palmer and his baby son Yonatan — police first believed vehicles crashed due to accidents rather than terror attacks. It was only through the persistence of area residents that police investigated further, and realized that in fact, the “accident” was caused by a terror attack.

On Monday, the IDF ordered a military police investigation into the shooting death of the road terrorist and the actions of his two accomplices who were attempting to kill Israelis near Samua.
