Back in 1988, I was the first DJ on the Arutz 7 boat off the coast of Tel Aviv. My dad was still alive, listening to me on his radio in Ramat Chen every night as I would bring the broadcast to its conclusion around midnight – always with this one.

Then I would call him and we’d chat a little.

It’s all gone now, the boat, my dad, the house in Ramat Chen. But Esther Ofarim’s sweet voice and the haunting Mordecai Ze’ira melody are as alive and as powerful as ever.
