PLO Chairman Abu Mazen appointed a long-time political ally, Rami Hamdallah, to build the Palestinian national unity government with Hamas. Palestinian reports said Fatah and Hamas officials agreed on the list of names that will form the government.

According to NRG, the sides still have yet to agree on the future of Riad Almaliki, the current PLO foreign minister. Fatah officials have called an emergency meeting to discuss the issue, but Hamas sources in Gaza said the new government would be announced tonight or tomorrow.
