A new Da’esh (ISIS) female commander has been assigned to head an all-female battalion in Hasakeh, the capital city of the province of the same name in northeastern Syria, an activist told the Arabic Al Arabiya website.

Nada al-Qahtani reportedly joined Da’esh in December 2013, pledging her allegiance and tweeting her intentions to become a suicide bomber.

Reported to have a “strong character,” she has met with Da’esh chief Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi twice in a meeting with other leaders of the group. The Da’esh chief has not been seen in public since 2014.

Qahtani has called on other women to encourage their husbands and sons to join Da’esh as well, and presumably also to join as warriors or to become suicide bombers, or both.
