Pioneers of the Periphery: Olim of the SouthGot that pioneering spirit? You’re invited to help build Israel’s periphery by planting roots in southern soil with Nefesh B’Nefesh.
Israeli television Wednesday night showed satellite images that prove Israel did not bomb a Syrian research center, which Syrian President Bashar Assad’s regime claimed was attacked last week.
Israel has all but admitted that the bombing raid targeted advanced Russian-made SA-17 anti-aircraft missiles that were being shipped by truck from Damascus to Hizbullah terrorists in Lebanon.
The research center, involved in chemical warfare, was next to the targeted convoy. Channel 2 News said the satellite images were taken several months before the attack and this past Monday, a week after the raid.
The images, taken by U.S.-based DigitialGlobe, show that the research center was untouched by the bombing but that next to it was a road and parking lot that appeared to have been blackened in the bombing operation.
Reuters reported that the company confirmed the authenticity of the pictures.

She was a voice on the telephone, a pleasant, friendly voice: “How can I help you?”
I had heard this question in the past five weeks more time than I care to remember. As soon as I explained what my quest was the questioner would switch me to another voice on the telephone, then onto another, and another, without any results. This went on daily ever since we moved to a new apartment and wished to have our landline telephone number reinstated, instead of the temporary one arbitrarily assigned by the company.

The Rambam, therefore, adds a second component: by getting angry, Moshe misled the people as to the nature of God. The masses felt that Moshe’s anger was reflective of God’s anger.
The tear is rolling down my cheek. It lands atop my lips. I lick my lips to remove the dryness and the saltiness soaks into my tongue. I take a long deep breath and begin to think. Why? How could she do that to me? We’re best friends. We’ve known each other practically since we were born. How could she go and do such a horrible thing?

We know Europe is not getting safer for Jews. Now Christians can worry, too, but of course blame the Jews. A Christian school holds off on a Holocaust plaque because it fears Muslim vandalism.
Young Ethiopians get a boost in self-esteem through the celebration of their heritage at the Malkat Shva Ethiopian Cultural Center.
Assad’s regime scrapes the bottom of the barrel for propaganda. It displays an old IDF jeep as “proof” Israel is aiding the rebels – but it is more likely that the jeep was in the hands of Hezbollah.
The women in the picture above are Israeli leftists, protesting a whole bunch of stuff, including the fact that Jews are living in areas outside the 1949 armistice “green line,” and the fact that the mostly Arab Jerusalem neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah is considered part of Israel, rather than part of a Palestinian state that [...]

“Do not cook a kid in its mother’s milk.“ It is a puzzling statement, repeated three times in the Torah. Twice in connection with Shavuot, the summer’s first fruits and harvest festival. The third time is in the context of forbidden foods. Traditionally, these texts have been taken to ban cooking, eating, and gaining benefit [...]

A GE mechanic who also loves the KKK comes up with an X-ray WMD device. What better market for the gadget than Jews, who can use it to annihilate Israel’s foes. But the Jews snitched on him to the FBI.

What’s more important to the US, another Arab state within Israel’s current borders or the Iranian nuclear threat? The answer is in expected US arms to Israel. Despite budget cuts, it will increase.
Russia is now Iran’s spokesman. It says Iran is ready to stop enriching 20 % uranium. The West, of course, must respond by lifting sanctions, while Rohani says Iran won’t all halt all enrichment.
American actor Robert De Niro landed in Israel with his son Tuesday morning for a 24-visit, highlighted by his appearance at this evening’s birthday bash for President Shimon Peres, who turns 9o on August 2. DeNiro, who is not Jewish, met with the president at his Jerusalem home, and among other topics, they spoke about [...]
Knee-jerk leftists still are alive and sick. An equally sick mind posted on Yair Lapid’s Facebook page a picture of him dressed as Hitler. A PR agent immediately linked the fake posting with “the black days before the murder” of Rabin
Streisand loves Israel – she even visits the country once in a while. She gives lots of money. And she can’t resist a chance to preach about women’s rights in Israel but admits it is a “foreign land.”
Obama wants to arm Syrian rebels. Saudi Arabia is giving them anti-aircraft missiles. And Al Qaeda has a how-to manual use them. Then it can do what Israel feared Assad would do – down an Israeli plane.
Forget Streisand’s concerts and performance for Peres. What may be the most emotional moment of her current visit to Israel was her listening to a cancer-stricken girl sing her own song, “People.”
