Saudi Arabia’s foreign minister Prince Saud al-Faisal, said in a joint press conference with Germany’s foreign minister, Frank-Walter Steinmeir, at a meeting in Jeddah that Iran must withdraw its “occupying” forces from Syria, in an effort to help resolve the crisis there.

“Our reservations are about Iran’s policy in the region, not about Iran as a country or people,” but, Prince Saud continued, “in many conflicts, Iran is part of the problem, not the solution.”

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad receives financial and military support from Iran, as well as military assistance from Lebanon’s Shiite terrorist organization, Hezbollah. Prince Saud referred to Assad as an “illegitimate” leader.

“If Iran wants to be part of the solution in Syria, it has to pull its forces from Syria. The same applies elsewhere, whether in Yemen or Iraq,” he said.
