“HonestReporting informs and educates the public. By doing this, we teach people to question the media,” says Suzanne. The media begins by swaying public opinion. This affects foreign policy towards Israel and this, in turn, affects lives of its citizens. “We are empowering the man on the street,” she says.

The Birth of HonestReporting

On September 30, 2000, The New York Times, Associated Press and other major media outlets published a photo of a battered young man, purportedly a Palestinian, crouching beneath a club-wielding Israeli soldier. The truth? The young man in the photo was a Jew, Tuvia Goldstein, who fled from Arabs trying to kill him. A small group of British college students responded to this blatant bias against Israel by forming HonestReporting. Today, HonestReporting has 40,000 subscribers with hundreds of thousands more reading its material online.
