As we were leaving Sunday, we heard many guests expressing their desire to attend next year’s Shabbat Chazzanut.

A big debt of gratitude is owed to Cantors World founders Charlie Bernhaut and Benny Rogosnitzky for creating this venue for the revival of chazzanut, and for their efforts to bring the cantor back to his proper and respected place in the synagogue.

Bernhaut and Rogosnitzky have a novel idea: Just as some synagogues sponsor scholars in residence a few times a year, they suggest a “Cantor in Residence Shabbat,” during which the cantor would not only lead the services but also deliver lectures to educate the congregants about the world of chazzanut that was and that could again be.

Those interested in the cantor-in-residence idea or future Cantors World events can visit www.cantorsworld.com or call 718-851-3226.
