Beit El (in red circle) was in the territory given to the Tribe of Ephraim.

The US State Department has voiced displeasure with Israel’s appropriation of 400 acres of land in the Gush Etzion settlement block as ‘state-owned land,’ and has demanded that Israel’s government rescind the controversial designation. Do US demands challenge Israeli sovereignty? Bobby Brown, former adviser to Prime Ministers Benjamin Netanyahu and Ehud Barak, claims that Israel has full rights to designate the land following an extensive legal investigation, while VOI’s Dan Diker, former Secretary General of the World Jewish Congress, suggests that the timing of the announcement is problematic. Then, Yishai’s wife Malkah discusses the first day of school for Israeli children. Plus, Irit from Israel’s Ramat Gan Safari tells Yishai about the recent birth of a rare female rhinoceros!
