Babies born at Ziv Medical Center

Midwives, nurses and obstetricians at Ziv Medical Center in Tzfat didn’t have time for coffee – or much of anything else this week; 23 babies were born in the hospital’s labor and delivery center within the past 24 hours, a spokesperson said.

Of those 23 births, seven were delivered through Caesarian section. Extra teams were called in from home to help out at the hospital, said Mira Eli, the nurse in charge of the labor and delivery floor at Ziv.

“We’re always very happy when there is a newborn,” she said.

Hospital staff said the department generally sees only 10 births a day.
