Fireball with fireworks from explosions at warehouse in Chinese port city of Taijin, near Beijing.

The death toll has climbed to over 100 in the continuing explosions taking place in China at a chemicals warehouse in the port city of Tinajin. More than 700 were injured and thousands left homeless in the initial blast.

The initial massive explosions ignited Wednesday with a huge fireball that rose into the sky surrounded by fireworks. It was not clear what set off the conflagration.

Sodium cyanide, calcium carbide, toluene diisocyanate and other chemicals are being stored in the warehouses and are now leaking from site since the initial explosions occurred.

As a result, Chinese military forces have begun mass evacuations of citizens residing within a three kilometer (two mile) radius of the blast site.

It is still not clear exactly what else was being stored in the warehouses, and why the deadly explosions are continuing.
