Israeli citizens stopped what might have been a real tragedy in Afula Tuesday evening when they spotted three suspicious-looking young Arab men on Arlozorov Street.

Israel Police officers launched a search for the suspects and within minutes had stopped and searched the trio when they spotted one throwing away an object, which turned out to be a large butcher knife.

The other two men likewise were carrying matching butcher knives, sharpened in clear readiness for an attack.

All three men lacked entry and identification documents and were residents of the Palestinian Authority city of Jenin.

They were immediately arrested and taken to the local police station for questioning.
