An Arab terrorist attack on IDF soldiers was foiled Thursday near the northern Samaria city of Ariel, but riders on the Jerusalem Light Rail were not as fortunate.

On Thursday afternoon, an Arab driver attempted to run over an IDF soldier with his taxi near Ariel, home to Israel’s newest university.

Other soldiers stopped the terrorist from carrying out the attack. He was taken into custody by IDF soldiers and handed over to police for interrogation. No injuries were reported in the incident.

Also on Thursday, Arabs in the northern Jerusalem neighborhood of Shuafat hurled rocks at the Light Rail train in two separate attacks.

No physical injuries were reported in either attack, although passengers were traumatized, and damage to the cars was reported as well. Nearly half of the Light Rail cars have been taken out of service due to constant attacks on the line by Arab terrorists in the Shuafat area.
