Despite Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s order that “sovereignty be asserted in all parts of the city” Jerusalem Arabs are showing they intend to struggle for control of the capital.

Arabs attacked the population in various parts of Jerusalem late Wednesday and throughout the day Thursday (today, Oct. 23) by hurling rocks at them, their homes, their vehicles and the other means of transportation they use to get around the city.

Israel Police deployed late this afternoon to disperse a gang of Arabs hurling rocks at various targets in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Wadi al-Joz. One of the cars parked in the area was damaged in the melee.

Earlier in the day, masked attackers hurled rocks at a kindergarten, also located in the eastern part of the capital.

In addition, there were two rock attacks aimed at the Jerusalem Light Rail overnight and early today, following the deadly motor vehicle terror attack that claimed the life of three-month-old Chaya Zissel Braun.

The train was damaged in at least one of the attacks while passing through the northern Jerusalem neighborhood of Shuafat, but none of the passengers were physically injured. A number of riders were traumatized.

Following the attacks, Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon commented early this morning that in the Palestinian Authority “there is not, and never was, a culture of peace but rather, a culture of incitement and jihad against the Jews.

“It starts with Abbas’ fraudulent statements against Israel at the United Nations, continues with repeated PA attempts to delegitimize us in the international community, and ends with incitement in the PA education system,” he said.
