Traffic throughout Israel on the first intermediate (Chol HaMoed) day of the Jewish Festival of Sukkot was complicated Tuesday by constant stoning attacks from Arab terrorists intent on killing Israeli motorists.
The terrorists failed in their mission, but they slowed down the traffic.
In the Gush Etzion section of Judea, Route 374 was narrowed down to a single lane in which traffic was allowed to flow in one direction only, alternately, in order to maintain tight control on the security situation at the Husan bypass around Beitar and the underpass near the El Khader junction.
Traffic was reported heavy in both directions in the late afternoon hours, but no injuries were reported by nightfall.
Reports earlier in the day indicated that at least 40,000 people had flocked to the nation’s public parks and nature reserves to celebrate the holiday, the beautiful weather and the glorious day.
