Israeli security personnel entered a Hebron hospital to arrest an Arab terrorist who tried to kill a Jew in Gush Etzion on October 25.
The terrorist’s 28-year-old cousin was shot and killed when he attacked the security forces during the arrest operation, according to Tazpit news agency.
During the operation, now cleared for publication, a joint force comprised of Shin Bet, IDF and police operatives entered the Ahali Hebron hospital at night to arrest the attacker, Shalaldeh Azzam Izzat Sa’aban, age 20.
He himself was taken into custody by the forces and transferred to Shin Bet personnel for interrogation.
“It is important to emphasize the security establishment will not allow the existence of shelter for terrorists, no matter where they are,” the Shin Bet said in its statement.
Sa’aban was arrested after he threw rocks at an Israeli’s car and then stabbed him in the chest when he came to a stop and exited the vehicle.
The victim fired his gun at his attacker, who lives in the Arab village of Sair and belongs to a family of Hamas activists and operatives. Despite his own injuries, the terrorist fled the scene after the attack and succeeded in making his escape.
Sa’aban subsequently sought medical treatment at the Elhal Medical Center for the gunshot wound in Hebron, but was tracked down and ultimately identified by the Shin Bet.
