Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is meeting with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry Wednesday and then will head back to Israel a few hours earlier than planned because of a cold.
The European Union action today to label products from Judea and Samaria is certain to be on the agenda. The United States has stated it opposes the policy of labeling.
Syria also is on the agenda. Kerry, of course, will talk about the Palestinian Authority, but he has little leeway now that President Obama has publicly said that “two states” won’t happen during his administration.
Netanyahu was scheduled to fly back later on Wednesday, but a hoarse throat has been bothering him, forcing him to cancel a briefing with The Washington Post.
He will need to save his voice to yell at two Knesset Members of the coalition, Betzalel Smotrich and Shuli Moallem of the Bayit Yehudi (Jewish Home) party. They absented themselves from the Knesset today and allowed the Opposition to score a point over the coalition by passing on first reading a bill of its own.
It limits to 60 the number of cases a social worker can deal with at the same time.
Smotrich said his and MK Moallem’s absence was a reaction to the Prime Minister’s breaking a coalition agreement and halting building for Jews in Jerusalem.
