Red Alert infiltration warning siren

A Red Alert warning that was activated by IDF Homefront Command on Thursday afternoon for the Highway 443 segment between Modi’in and Jerusalem, at Beit Horon was later reported to be a false alarm.

The alert warned residents of a suspected terrorist infiltration in the area. Residents were urged to go inside, “lock the doors and close the windows.”

However, security personnel later said, “Due to a malfunction the alert was associated with an unrecognized threat, the malfunction was addressed. Sorry for the inconvenience.”

An initial investigation found the “infiltrator” appeared to have been an Israeli driver who got stuck on Highway 443 had apparently attempted to reach Beit Horon via the wadi (a dry gulley or riverbed in an open area).

Another day in the life.
