The Stena Impero oil tanker

The UK-flagged oil tanker Stena Impero finally arrived late Friday at the dock in Dubai’s Port Rashid in the United Arab Emirates after spending more than two months as an Iranian hostage.

Stena Bulk CEO Erik Hanell, whose company owns the vessel, had sent Reuters a text message saying, “Finally approaching berth in Dubai right now.”

The vessel sailed out of Iranian waters on Friday morning after leaving Iran’s Bandar Abbas port.

The crew is to be repatriated in Dubai after receiving medical checks and debriefing, before traveling home to their families. Seven of the 23 crew members were already released earlier this month.

The ship and crew was detained 10 weeks after been hijacked from the Strait of Hormuz by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ naval commandos.
