The Rabbinical Council of America on Monday sent Rabbi David Stav, a Religious Zionist candidate for the post of Israel’s Chief Rabbi, a letter of encouragement, stating the organization’s full support:

To the Honorable Rabbi David Stav Shlit’a, Rabbi of the town of Shoham, Chairman of the Rabbinical Organization Tzohar, the Rabbi of the Ezra youth movement and Speaker for the Association of Hesder Yeshivahs,

In the name of all the members of the RCA, we wish to express our encouragement and support to you…

We trembled in hearing the terrible words which Rav Ovadia Yosef expressed regarding Rabbi Stav this past Motzei Shabbat and also in hearing of the events in Bnei Brak at the wedding of the daughter of Rabbi Rabinovich. Is this Torah? And are these its students?…

We express a deep sense of appreciation for all that Rabbi Stav has done for the betterment of all the people of Israel, the land of Israel and the state of Israel. We expect to continue to work together with Rabbi Stav for many years with the goal of expanding the word of Torah and it’s beauty and to bring souls closer to our Father in Heaven. …
