Israeli air force planes attacked Hamas’ underground infrastructure shortly before midnight Saturday in the northern Gaza Strip. The attack followed a rocket that was fired a few hours earlier at the Israeli Gaza perimeter settlements.

The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said that the Air Force planes had “attacked two underground infrastructures belonging to the Hamas terrorist organization in the northern Gaza Strip, in response to the rocket launch from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory earlier this evening.”

The IDF did not specify what infrastructure had been attacked.

The Hamas rocket exploded in an open area in the Sdot Negev Regional Council. It was located by security forces.
No one was injured and there was no damage to property.

Hamas responded on Sunday morning, referring to the rocket attack as retaliation for the death of a 43-year-old Arab woman at last Friday’s demonstration by the border fence: “Israel continues to carry out its foolishness against non-violent demonstrators, deliberately killing them in cold blood and bombing the positions of the resistance. A dangerous escalation and the use of fire will not bring security, and it (Israel) will bear the full consequences and repercussions.”

The IDF, for its part, said that “Hamas is responsible for what is happening in and from the Gaza Strip.”
