A group of lawyers from the Palestinian Authority (PA) is preparing to file lawsuits in the US and Europe against businessmen, journalists and politicians who will cooperate with the US’s Deal of the Century peace plan and promote it, TPS has learned.

Complaints will also be filed with the International Court of Justice in The Hague and United Nations (UN) institutions.

The lawyers intend to work against economic companies that they find to be involved in business or other activities in the Jordan Valley and the Judea and Samaria area.

Behind the initiative stands Ghani Rabe’i, who previously initiated complaints in US Federal Court against 200 businessmen who invested in Israeli economic ventures in Judea and Samaria on the grounds that they violated the law because Israel’s presence in the area is considered illegal under international law.

Rabe’i told TPS that these are civil suits designed to embarrass Israel and the US following their intention to annex the Jordan Valley because he claims that the annexation would deprive the Arab residents living there of their legal status.

The head of the PA’s Bar Association Jawad Abidat said in this regard that any resident of the PA who claims to have been harmed by “the Israeli occupation” has the right to complain to the International Court of Justice or to appoint a lawyer on his behalf to file complaints in US and European courts.

Israeli Attorney Maurice Hirsch, who was formerly the attorney general at the IDF’s Central Command, stated that this move “is nonsense, since it is doubtful that any of the courts will agree to discuss such matters, and also, there is no validity for the claims made by the Palestinian lawyers.”
