Meteor Aerospace, founded by its Chairman and CEO Itzhak Nissan, has secured a first orders for its unmanned Impact 700 unmanned air vehicle. Nissan is the former President and Chief Executive Officer of Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI).

The Impact is a medium-altitude, long-endurance design, able to haul a 330 lb payload. Its 100 hp fuel-injection engine can keep the Impact in the air for more than 24 hours at a time.

Nissan co-founded Meteor Aerospace Ltd. with businessman Hezi Bezalel, as a privately owned defense and Home Land Security company developing and manufacturing new unmanned systems for air, ground and sea.

“Coming to the defense market with a new company makes sense only if you bring new and innovative products,” Nissan told UAS Visoin earlier this year. “You can’t claim your place among the well-established industry giants if you offer more of the same.”

Nissan would not reveal the identity of Impact’s first customer, but says the first order is valued at $150 million, with an options for another $100 million.
