Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu

The first of four pre-indictment hearings before Attorney-General Avichai Mandelblit to determine whether to indict Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on charges of breach of trust, bribery and fraud is to begin on Wednesday.

Mandelblit’s office announced Sunday that the hearings will last four days: Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday and Monday of next week, ending just before Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement.

Mandelblit’s decision on whether to indict the prime minister will likely determine the next step in negotiations on forming a new government – or ending that process and moving ahead to a third election.

The latter option could prove to be the end of Netanyahu’s political career.
