Israelis along the coast woke up to see an impressive rocket trail in the air on Monday morning, wondering what they just saw launched and why.

Israel’s military successfully tested a rocket propulsion system at the Palmachim Air Base in central Israel on Monday, the Defense Ministry eventually announced.

“The test was arranged in advance by the security services and was carried out as planned,” the ministry said in a brief statement.

There was no information on which rocket the system was destined for.

Rocket propulsion systems have in the past been tested by Israel in 2013 and in 2015. On both occasions they were deemed successful, according to a report by Israel Hayom.
