Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu got in front of a webcam in a government office immediately following the United Nations General Assembly passage on Thursday (Dec. 21) of the resolution denouncing recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel to offer his scorn to the world body, and reiterate his thanks to U.S. President Donald Trump and Ambassador Nikki Haley.

“Israel completely rejects this preposterous resolution,” the prime minister said. “Jerusalem is our capital. Always was, always will be.

“But I do appreciate the fact that a growing number of countries refused to participate in this theater of the absurd.

“So I appreciate that, and especially I want to again express our thanks to President Trump and Ambassador Haley, for their stalwart defense of Israel and their stalwart defense of the truth.”

Countries that Netanyahu visited over the past year in Europe, Africa and in Latin America abstained on the vote.
